Owner description: New Orleans' Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor one of America's truest art forms - Traditional New Orleans Jazz. Operating as a music venue, a touring band, and a non-profit organization, Preservation Hall continues its mission today as a cornerstone of New Orleans music and culture. Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, the Preservation Hall venue presents intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts over 350 nights a year featuring ensembles from a current collective of 100+ local master practitioners. On any given night, audiences bear joyful witness to the evolution of this venerable and living tradition.

Yes you have to stand in line. Yes there are limited seats. Yes it's a small room....but YES it's amazing music made by real people on real instruments!! If you're into traditional jazz, NOLA history, and having a great time I strongly recommend Preservation Hall.

Wonderful musicians playing great jazz music. A must-see. We went two nights in a row and were delighted each time.

Nestled in the middle of the Vieux Carre' is this famous landmark which embodies the geographic birthplace of an important art form. Preservation Hall still attracts jazz talent nightly: catch a set.

If you want to sit during the performance, plan to request tickets 3 weeks out. Otherwise you stand like the rest of us poor planners. You might want to check with the hotel for discounts. Jazz performance was terrific. Pat O'Brien's bar is happy to sell you a drink while you wait in line and you can take your drink in with you.

Make sure you do not miss a chance to see a performance at Preservation Hall. It's steps away from the crowds on Bourbon, very easy to get to. This may be a tourist destination, but it doesn't really feel like one, once the band starts to play. Check it out.
