Owner description: Ride with us at Confederacy of Cruisers, New Orleans original and oldest bike tour company. Going on 10 years of great tours and great customers keeping us feeling like the luckiest folks in New Orleans every day when we come to work. The tour that started them all and our others, the Culinary, the History of Drinking and our combined Pedal to Paddle with our friends at Kayakityat. New Orleans is so more than the French Quarter and we want to show you what most visitors don't get to experience. The heart of our city is seen through its other historic neighborhoods on the Creole side of Town, the beautiful Faubourg Marignyand Bywater; and there is no better way to explore them than with New Orleans' original bicycle tour company. Join us as we take you for a bike ride around the old streets and tell you the stories of the New Orleans that most tourists miss. The ride is relaxed, with plenty of time to ask questions, and a stop along the way at a neighborhood bar where you can find out all you want about local life while drinking a delicious Bloody Mary, if you like (water or nothing are also fine choices). For those who want to delve a little deeper, we offer a tasty Neighborhood Culinary Tour and a Historic Drinking Tour (where you get to indulge as you learn), all travelling through our our city like the locals do, on easy to ride classic cruiser bicycles. One speed, slow.

“Culinary Goodness...Biking too!”

My Mom (70) and I enjoyed an afternoon with Cassandra (guide) and an interesting crew of 6 other NOLA visitors on the Culinary Bike Tour...I'm still full! This tour does not disappoint, absolutely fantastic! I always like to find 'off the beaten' path types of activities and to combine cruiser biking with true local dining is a match made in, well, Cycling Foodie Heaven!

The tour is 3 - 4 hours long, winds through neighborhoods a 'typical tourist' would never know to visit, and stops at the most Mom & Pop Hole-in-the-Wall eateries. A true treat! The ride covers approximately 14 - 16 flat miles and about 27,391 calories. Cassandra was extremely knowledgable and clearly has a passion for her town. She was engaging, witty, and fun!

We enjoyed fried chicken, chicken/shrimp/sausage gumbo, BBQ shrimp, roast beef po-boys, and popsicles. Oh and a few cold adult beverages (or 3!). Cassandra is a true foodie and not only provided us with NOLA culinary history, but great suggestions where else to eat during our stay.

The tour was $85 which included everything except alcohol and is paid at the end of the tour. They provide a water bottle, a bike basket for your belongings as well as a helmet (optional). I always travel with an extra layer, water, and hand wipes...oh and a camera! It's a well organized 'simple' tour. Highly recommended.

Come hungry and ready to have fun!

“So fun!”

Perfect way to see New Orleans. We loved riding through the old neighborhoods and checking out the cute historical homes. Our tour guide was super nice and really knew the city well. Loved the little bar we stopped in for a beer. Thanks for a great afternoon!

“So much fun!”

We visit New Irleans a couple of times a year and wanted to see some of the city from the locals perspective. This did not disappoint. The tour lasted about 3 hours and took us into the neighborhoods of Treme, Marigny and Bywater. Along the way we stopped at a neighborhood bar, a snowball stand and several stops where our guide told us really interesting stories about the area. If you are lucky enough to get Laura as your guide she is really bubbly and a lot of fun, but everyone with this tour are very cool!

If you are a visitor or a local, the Lower Ninth Ward tour is a great experience. Derek led a group of 5 folks for a 4 hour tour through the Marigny, Bywater, and Lower Ninth Ward. We made many stops - some for a quick bit of info, some for a more lengthy story. You get to see great local architecture from the early 1800s to the state-of-the-art designs in the Lower Ninth Ward from the Make It Right Foundation started by Brad Pitt. We stopped by Fats Domino's house. Got poboys from Cajun Joes and ate them at the House of Dance and Feathers where cultural historian Ronald Lewis holds court and regales you stories of parades and Mardi Gras indians and more.

Two thumbs up for Derek's knowledge and hospitality!

“Confederacy of Cruisers Biking through NOLA”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

This is a wonderful way to get around the outskirts of New Orleans and tour outside of the French Quarter. My daughter and I took this bike tour on a sunny Thursday morning and met Cassady, our tour guide, in Washington Park, in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood. We took the "Creole Tour" - The bikes were great cruisers, and in excellent condition. Cassady is a very knowledgeable, fast talking and witty guide to the history of New Orleans and the areas we rode to, the lower 9th Ward, Faubourg Marigny, Bywater, Treme, etc. At a very leisurely pace we were able to really see the parts of New Orleans neither bus nor regular walking about, would have availed us to. At the end of the tour he gave us some great suggestions for restaurants that my vegetarian daughter and myself (carnivore) really enjoyed! Definitely invest the 3 hours and $$ expended!
