We visited the Cathederal and park just before dusk and enjoyed the area immensley. The artists showing their wonderful pieces of work and the beautiful cathederal were great to see.
The sun set before we left and the hustlers were onto us in seconds like a fly on sh#@.
They tried to hustle $50.00 out of our 15 YO by telling him they could tell him where his shoes are from - that ones from his left foot, that ones from his right. Then they wiped the side of each shoe and said $25.00 for the shine, $25.00 for the line...
They got nothing but a mouthful from myself and my husband, but even then, as we were walking away, two men turned into 12... it wasnt a pleasent moment and reminded us that some of teh reviews we had read about New Orleans were probably true. No kids out after dark!

Go see it, go inside, very pretty? The square out front can be entertaining, Wish the city would put in some clean public WC for all the tourists

Don't ignore the ceiling! This building has its own presence and certainly feels as it if has a spirit as well. Amazing piece of history, beautiful design and architecture. I was only here maybe 30 minutes to take photos of the glass stained windows, unbelievably gorgeous. Being decorated for Christmas probably enhanced the experience as well. Said a little prayer as it is a very quiet spot to rest in the middle of a very busy French Quarter.

I find it weird to be giving a house of worship a rating on trip advisor... but okay. It was pretty on the outside, lovely courtyard, very nice choir from the sound of it, though I didn't go inside... but I've been to Europe, and sorry America, but this cathedral has nothin' compared to the old world.

If you're in NOLA you should visit, it's historically important and all that stuff

Attended Sunday Mass and the 5 pm Christmas Eve Vigil. The Cathedral is beautiful and was even more so with the Nativity scene and Christmas greenery. Church was packed at the Christmas Eve Vigil. We were in line at 3:45, doors opened at 4. Music started at 4:30, caroling around 4:45. Music and instruments were excellent. Always attend Mass at the Cathedral when we stay in The Quarter.
