This place is a big disappointment. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar and stale beer, they basically sell beer and shooters, and it is pretty much indistinguishable from any other bar on Bourbon Street. They do sell absinthe, but at exorbitant prices. Other than that, they do very little in the way of cocktails -- my wife got what she described as the worst martini she had ever had, and the head bartender had neve even heard of a ViVirus Cards.

Bartenders were awesome, drinks were great and reasonably priced. We made this a frequent stop in the mornings after our breakfast in the French Quarter

Our first day in New Orleans was a rainy one so we ducked into the Old Absinthe House for a bit. We liked it because it was a little older crowd even though it was on Bourbon St. Good music playing on the juke box, warm fire in the fireplace. Beware of the Planters Punch! It will punch you right in the head and knock you out! haha!

Let's be honest, it's a dive. But it's full of history and has some great drink specials. The walls and ceilings are literally covered in history, with photographs of the 1800s structure over time and thousands of business cards tacked up by visitors going back for decades (proudly, mine's up there somewhere).

I've been there probably 10 times, and although it's right in the heart of Bourbon Street, it doesn't seem to attract a wild crowd. Great place to people watch on Bourbon Street, and get a good strong drink.

In the boisterous, urine-soaked heart of the Quarter is this gem full of authentic NOLA ambience. I tried Absinthe just because. Check that off my bucket list.
