An old myth is absinthe and its effects, and an old tradition for New Orleans, or at least each time we visit.
The Old Absinthe House is a historic treasure that serves up adult libations.
Our favorite is an absinthe mojito, but for those that are more adventurious the is the classic absinthe, lit on fire.
Another fun place to visit in New Orleans.

An amazing place to have a drink. So much more than a bar -- you can feel the history of the city. Worth a visit.

I'm from the midwest and it just seems to me that food and drinks in the French Quarter are too expensive, relatively speaking. This bar was nothing special compared to the hundreds of bars in the French Quarter, and the drinks were expensive.

The atmosphere here was what drew us in. No neon lights, no blasting music or screaming bartenders. Just quiet and smiles and such a laid-back feel. Erin and Caroline (our bartenders) were so much fun, really knowledgeable, and NO attitude. The drinks were stronger, tasted better, and were more reasonably priced than anywhere else we found. We spent our whole evening in this one bar and will definitely be back if we ever go to NOLA again. Actually, this is the only place on Bourbon we'll return to.

The best time to go is Thursday night when the crowd is smaller. Enjoy some of the drinks New Orleans is famous for. My wife likes to people watch on Bourbon Street and I prefer to take in the atmosphere at the bar. Old Absinthe allows us to do both.
