A lot happens around Jackson square. Lot of artists put up small shops. Can spend hours together here

Pros
Iconic pictures
Close to some tasty food
Close to downtown and the CBD

Cons
Can be difficult to navigate without be harassed for money by street people.

My wife and I love to stroll the square when we are in NOLA. There is a little more space than many streets in the French Quarter. You can go to Cafe Dumonde, or wander to a few galleries, or simply look at the street art available. Plus if you want the quintessential New Orleans Pics, this is the place. Large Trees, Wrought Iron Balconies, and Cobble Stone Streets.

We walked through while exploring.

Beautiful area, very historic and well kept. Buildings and gardens are amazing.

Shops, food and all on the streets that surround President Jackson's statue.

You have - all in one place: St. Louis Cathedral, Andrew Jackson statue, horse drawn carriages, artist selling their paintings and in 2018 the NOLA 300 signs celebration of the founding of the city. Plus it is free to wander & enjoy!

Jackson Square is a great place for pictures. It is very well kept and a nice place to just sit and take in all the sights. It is surrounded by shops, restaurants, street vendors, just a little bit of everything.

This is a beautiful place for it historic significance. But personally I liked it more for the street performers and side walk posted art. There is so many different artists with their work on display, all types from scenery to abstract. It is like an open gallery

No trip to New Orleans is complete without a trip to Jackson Square! Hopefully you head here on a nice day on a weekend. We were there on a Friday and it was rainey so it kept all the artists away which normally line the fence area of the square. Tons of beautiful photo ops here too!

Favorite place in New Orleans in the early morning. Nothing beats visiting Cafe du Monde for chicory coffeee and and order of beignets. Walk the block to the large plaza-like stairs across from Jackson Square. Sit near the top and the Mississipppi River is on one side, Jackson Squre on the other. The gardens in front of the cathedral are the perfect mix of palms, bushes and plants to give an elegant, refined look to the square and to frame the cathedral. The square itself is perfect in the early evening as the lights come on, and the biggest crowds have dissipated.
