Great for people watching. Always busy. When you are there stop in at Stanley's for a bit to eat. Great service and clean.

Jackson Square is a great location to strictly wander and take it all in. The local artists have many displays out for you to choose something to bring home with you and there are many street performers & musicians around to make anytime of day or night fun. The history that surrounds you there is tremendous, if you just look for it. No better place to enjoy a little sunshine than here, as long as you're ok with the crowds. That's what makes for the great people watching, though. Have to take the bad with the good. ;-)

St. Charles Cathedral in Jackson Square is a must-see for tourists and frequent visitors alike. This iconic landmark is beautiful and the garden like park surrounding it is clean. If you're lucky, you can slip inside to experience Mass in this historic abbey. Local artists string their original works along the fleur de lis topped iron fencing surrounding the square, where you can buy these pieces quite inexpensively. I am still kicking myself that I didn't pick up the quite large brightly colored watercolor of St. Charles Cathedral for under $20, not wanting to have to keep up with it that evening. Across the street, there is a platform on the river bank which conveniently is the perfect posing spot for photos.

Jackson Square is beautiful! Make sure to take a free tour of St. Louis Cathedral! Many shops and cafes just down the street in the French Market.
