Owner description: Fun area with street painters, musicians and jugglers.

Dominated by a big white church and a statue of Andrew Jackson you see people from all walks of life. There are street vendors, musicians, horse drawn carriages, quaint gift shops and quiet side streets which are safe to explore. Even the pan handlers are imaginative. One approached us as
we were talking with a park ranger. He said when he went to the bathroom his wallet and cellphone were stolen so he needed 75 cents for the bus. My husband gave him the money, heck it was almost Christmas. When the pan handler left the ranger said that guy has been around for months and he never tells the same story twice.

The first thing one notices is the very large White Church in the back of the square. There is a statue of the Andrew Jackson in the square. In front of the square one finds artists, musicians and acrobats and horse carriages etc. In the side streets to the square, are artists and jazz musicians and souvenir stalls. This square comes to life in the evening and is a must visit for all those who really want to know life in New Orleans.

This is the place to get some local artist work, catch a 6 piece jazz band in action and do some shopping in some one of a kind shops that sell 1st class goods. This is also the place to get pralines made in a little shop on the edge of the park.
