Beautiful and picturesque. A must see attraction when visiting this gorgeous city. And to see something so impressive in the middle of the French quarter. Just a walk from Cafe Monde.

Jackson square is beautiful. Nearby you have the horses and carriages that offer to take you on tours, then there are the fortune tellers, artists and street musicians playing wonderful jazz.

I had my fortune read for fun. Not sure if I believe it but I was given good news just before the new year so that made me happy.

What I thoroughly enjoyed was the artwork that is displayed all around Jackson square. There were jazz portraits that resembéed a cross between picasso's cubist phase and Louisiana jazz art .... can't quite explain but it was very beautiful.

Be careful not to take photos of the art that you see. In fact, many artists ask you not to take photos as they do not want people copying their art style - and I understand why as it isn't tourist crap, it is actually very original art.

After looking at the art and finding out how wonderful my future will be, it was nice to listen to the music and walk past the horses and carriages.

Great energy and vibe! Wonderful art and lovely square/garden area. We were there a little early in the morning, really got going a bit later.

The best place to spend New Year's Eve. Not the nightmare of NYC that have to stand for hours to see the ball drop. In NOLA they have the fleur de lis and it also drops and after the fireworks display on the Mississippi River was spectacular. We arrived at Jackson Square around 9:30 we still had time to go and have dinner and came back to the square with no problems we had a nice view of the stage and also a great spot to see the fireworks. Definitely coming back for another New Year's Eve in this spectacular awesome and friendly place that knows how to party and treat tourism!
