“Fantastic family fun”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

This zoo is simply amazing. They are constantly expanding and changing the exhibits so there is always something new. Many different things to explore with little ones, but adults love it too! The grounds are well-kept and are a beautiful background for all of the exotic animals who live there. Really is something to see! The primate area is always lots of fun. The monkeys love putting on a show for you!

This zoo really surprised me when we went. It is huge. Lots of walking, lots of stuff to see. Oh, and you can bring beer! What zoo can you bring beer to? New Orleans, of course! If you have young children, this is definitely somewhere you want to take them.

“Old-fashioned zoo under construction”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Worth a visit, especially if you like reptiles. The mammals, like the elephant, tiger and giraffes all have very small enclosures, and they seemed stressed and unhappy. You do get very close to the animals, which is a plus. The visit was made on a cold day which might have brought them down. On december 31, the zoo was almost empty, and many of the features of the zoo was closed down and under construction. The reptile house was very good, with nice displays, although the enclosures here seemed a little small as well. Be sure to buy the tickets for the Audobon Experience, which includes entry to the Zoo, the Insectarium and the Aquarium.
