Went to the zoo on November 3, 2012 to celebrate their annual Swampfest Festival. The weather was perfect for a day to sit and listen to music, watch the families enjoy their day and partake of some great Cajun food! The zoo itself is a little small, but very clean, nice displays of their animals and the new Swamp area is realistic and fun for all who visit the old shack and listen to the park attendants with their friends... the snakes, the mice, the skulls, etc.. Terrific place for the kids!

Note: If you are coming from downtown area, take the #11 Magazine St. bus for $1.25 each way... you can sit back and see all the great stores, restaurants, art stores, old houses etc... that run along the length of Magazine St. The bus route ends at the zoo.

This is a great zoo, one of the best in the country. Avoid on hot days. Great exhibits. Larger than you would think.

Loved the zoo and especially liked the Creature Feature showcased by one very animated "Kat". Can't say enough great things about this facility and its employees!

I had a good day at this zoo, but it wasn't the largest one I've seen. At first, when I found that the reptile enclosure was closed, I was exceptionally disappointed. Yet the rest of the zoo proved to be worth the visit. A nice way to spend a few hours, but it won't fill a full day.

A real shame we went on a hot day. Animals lying in the shady corners were hard to see. A very nice zoo, took the streetcar (which was great), but chose a bad day. Elephants and giraffes were amazing.
