Owner description: Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otter enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit. Watch for sea turtles throughout the Aquarium-as coordinator of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, we prepare many of them for release to the wild.

I went to the aquarium to kill time and I was blown away by the size of the facility and the quality of the exhibits. One can get overwhelmed by the activities inside but it was worth it. The displays were full of information everywhere you looked and all the critters had plenty of room. It was a nice change of pace from the outside environment and I have recommended it to many that have visited NO since me.

I had heard good things before my visit, but I was surprised at how nice the aquarium was. They have quite the variety of fish, and even some birds & snakes in the rainforest section. We were lucky enough to come during one of the penguin feeding times which was very interesting. Definitely want to go back and see some of the exhibits that we didn't have time for. Definitely stop here.

So we went to this aquarium to kill time, my husband was hesitant to go, since we live near the Coney Island Aquarium which is highly renowned. Well, we are thrilled we went here! They not only have fish and marine life, but also a white (not albino, as we were informed) alligator, red tailed hawk, adorable owl (both of which were being held by staff, so we got within inches of them), and frog exhibit. My favorite part was the totally adorable penguins, about 15 of them, very lively and hamming it up. Of course the fish were interesting also, especially the aquarium tunnel you walk through, like the Monterey Aquarium in CA. They also had an Amazon Rainforest habitat exhibit, and they advertised a Mayan Reef exhibit, coming in 2014. Only complaint is that several exhibits did not have information labels, so we didn't know what species we were looking at.

We bought tickets to the aquarium to kill time before the Hurricane on the Bayou at the IMAX theater which is a couple of doors from the aquarium. We were pleasantly surpised at what a wonderful exhibit this was. The display tanks were huge and there were explanations about the fish and plants from this area. We especially enjoyed watching the otters and the penguins. You can buy a ticket that combines various attractions like the aquarium, the movie and a zoo.

We were in New Orleans for business/pleasure. It was a nice change of pace to stop by the aquarium and just mosey through. They had a lot of great exhibits, and some interactive items for the kids as well. I'm not sure where the otters were while we were there, but there was still a lot of other things to see! They're also expanding so it'll be interesting to see what they add!

Also, the food court didn't have that bad of prices for being located within the aquarium. Check deal websites too, as we purchased our tickets at almost half price!
