Owner description: Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otter enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit. Watch for sea turtles throughout the Aquarium-as coordinator of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, we prepare many of them for release to the wild.

We were last in NO before the Aquarium was open and it is a wonderful addition to the riverfront. While both the Zoo and Insectarium are fine attractions, the Aquarium is the gem of the Audubon collection. The exhibits were well laid out and informative. The staff and docents were well informed and helpful. We saw the penguin feeding and the staff really used the opportunity to inform as well as entertain. I am a real sucker for sea horsed and their display of these odd creatures is first class

Fun for all ages! Great viewing tanks and large walk through "jungle/swamp" areas. Petting the Stingray was a highlight for my teenagers. We would have spent over 2hrs but we had a late start and they closed at 5pm on Saturday.

The aquarium is located down on the Riverwalk. Pretty simple to get to. The end of the aquarium was the best part as there was a large tank of sharks and sting rays.

Tickets were expensive (but there are coupons in most of the travel magazines). Many displays, some interactive. I was expecting a much larger aquarium.

This was wonderful place! We thought we'd only spend a couple hours here, but we stayed the whole day (10am - 4pm)! The staff really wanted to talk to us and share their knowledge about the aquatic life in the museum. It was so much fun learning about the difference between an Albino alligator and a white alligator. Parakeet Pointe is not for folks who are phobic about birds. These birds really do land on you, crawl into your jackets, into your purses, and pockets. Lots of fun. If you have the extra dollars, you should choose the Backstage Penguin Pass. The people who work with the penguins were very knowledgeable, friendly, and truly interested in making the experience meaningful for every person involved. My college-age daughter was delighted to hold an African Penguin and talk about the day-to-day care and issues surrounding them. If you have kids and like animals, this is a definite "must do"!
