“Largest Float Company”

If you can't go to :Carnival", Mardi Gas World is the next best thing. After a short film on the history of Mardi Gras, Jaques our tour guide explained how the floats are made. It is incredible the process carving these figures and bringing them to life. Their warehouse is full of characters that were incorporated in past and future floats. It was a very interesting and informative process. I would ecommend this tour.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Very informative and free shuttle is nice. We called and they picked us up and delivered us to the French quarter.
The are not in Algiers anymore so you don't need to take the ferry over as some people on here mentioned.
Learned a lot about Mardi gras. Fun for kids too. Costumes and picture taking opportunities.

“Fun for someone that has not been to Mardi Gras”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

The museum offers free shuttle service, if you buy a ticket to the museum. We took advantage of that since parking is so expensive in New Orleans. The lady that gave us the tour was very engaging did a great job explaining how the floats and figures were made. What a big industry it is. We were in one of the warehouses that store the figures from the floats of past years. Artisans were working on next years floats and we got to watch them as they worked. Even up close the detail on the float figures was amazing. At the end of the tour, they hand out a piece of King Cake. The story says that if you get the piece of cake that contains the lone bead you are granted good luck. We ended up with the bead and feel lucky indeed.

“A junkyard of discarded float pieces”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

We were shocked at how old, dirty, dusty, and smelly it is, we have allergies so we could not take the tour. We bought something in the store instead. We were told the free shuttle was not free because we did not take the tour. They said we did not buy enough in the store to get back on the shuttle and they told us to take a cab. Outside of the rudness, the attraction itself is very old and dirty, not like the photos at all. I would certainly skip this one.

“Mardi Gras World”

We went to Mardi Gras World but did not take the tour. We found it to be expensive; however, they did have a lot of Mardi Gras parade items in their entrance way, which we enjoyed viewing.
