“YOU WON'T BELIEVE YOUR EYES!”

The French Quarter offers such an amazing overall experience it's hard to take it all in. Definitely a place for partying like a rock star if you are interested in being able to walk down Bourbon Street in and out of the many assorted establishments located there. Hurricanes are the drink that everyone has to try at least once and they are sold everywhere! Entertainment includes piano bars, dance clubs, blues, rock and more since this is area is known for its music...but some of the most entertaining artists include bands that walk up and down the street and play for the crowd. Wear your walking shoes...the street is closed to auto traffic so you have the ability to get around freely but it's old and uneven (part of it's charm) so you'll want to be comfortable. A must visit for anyone at least once in their life!

“Avoid Burboun street”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

French Quarter is so much more than Burboun street. If you avoid that and instead go to one of the streets nearby you will enjoy more of the New orleans atmosphere. Far from loud and extreamly drunk people :)

“A bit shocking at first!”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

I think the pictures you see before coming here are a kind of a visiual euphemism - in reality many of the building are terribly run down, weird types wander the streets throughout the day and night, at times the stench on the streets is almost unbearable. Once you get over the initial shock and start to feel more comfortable you can start enjoying the architecture and appreciate the unchanged city layout from centuries ago. Bourbon street is extremely rowdy and the closer it gets to dusk the worse it gets. Fortunately there is plenty of police patrols - day and night. Our hotel was right in the middle of the French Quarter and I wouldn't have it any other way to get to know the real New Orleans.
