Whats not to like? Fascinating mix of buildings, great restaurants and bars and street music. Bourbon Street can be a bit wearing in the evenings and don't go for Mardi Gras unless you like sharing your vacations with a quarter-million and up people in 10 city blocks?

We loved the architecture and the courtyards from the houses at the French Quarter. The stores in the surrounds are great too, and the cafes and restaurants too. During the night the Bourbon St is too loud and with a lot of brothels.

This was our first trip to NOLA and the French Quarter was a must see for us. We enjoyed the visit! There is a huge variety of things to do and see there. The flea market and shopping for souvenirs is a part of the experience. We had coffee and beignets at the Cafe du Monde where there seems to be a crowd all of the time. Met and heard people from all over the world there. Our visit was during the daytime morning hours and we felt safe and walked for several hours. Parking can be a bit of a challenge and expensive but just part of the experience in a metro area.
We thought the French Quarter was a colorful place and would return again.

The French Quarter is always a fun place to visit because it is always lively. The French Market is interesting, too. Great place for Bloody Marys!

Old and interesting as expected; pricy, smelly, crowded! Look for the Big Beers for cheap drinks. Don't go down there alone after dark! Beware.
