“overblown reputation”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

walked around the french quarter for a few days. bar-hopped bourbon street on a friday night and although a happening place, bourbon street is really a rather sad and sleazy place for people to drink their face off and not much else. Overall disappointed with New Orleans. Not really a safe place to wander around and take pictures on your own.

“Experience it at least once...”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

The French Quarter was very different than I expected. I guess I hadn't realized how old that part of the city was - so it was actually better than I expected! There is a lot of history in this little district and something for EVERYONE! Including the US's oldest bar and also the oldest gay bar.

The street entertainers can be weird and interesting at the same time. I also wound up with a snack around my neck. I am terrified of snakes and had there not been picture proof - I would have never believed it!

Drinks can be a little more expensive at some of the bars and everyone said to try the Hurricanes - wasn't a fan, but to each their own!

Also - you aren't saving money by buying souvenirs at the little shops on Bourbon Street. Paid the same amount of money for shot glasses at the airport. Actually it was a dollar cheaper.

If you've never been before - I will say it's different from any other place I have experienced and if you're a partier - you should try it at least once in your life! Add it to your bucket list and bring your camera and hand sanitizer. I'm just saying!

If you're into the smell of urine and just overall grossness, this place is for you. I recommend staying away from Bourbon street frankly unless you're in college.

“Fun.”

People watching taken to an extreme. Oh yeah, drinks included. The kids loved all the sight seeing though after 5 pm you may need to do some explaining. Plenty of shopping
