People watching taken to an extreme. Oh yeah, drinks included. The kids loved all the sight seeing though after 5 pm you may need to do some explaining. Plenty of shopping

I loved the beautiful architecture of the buildings and wonderful homes in the French Quarter. We walked all over and felt safe while we took in all the beauty. Great shopping, great restaurants and great music. Wear flat and comfortable shoes, as the city is almost 300 years old and the sidewalks and street have a lot of cobblestones and uneven pavement. Bourbon St. is loaded with sex shops and the like so we stayed away after a quick walk down the street. The great jazz music is mostly on Frenchman Street, so you might want to try that instead of Bourbon.

We like mornings here before the crowds and heat, when you can see the old balconies full of ferns and the merchants getting ready for the day. By night, of course, the parties have started. But just padding the streets takes you back a hundred years and stopping for French coffee and nice food is just a lagniappe. GREAT

It is an active place, the architecture and history is fascinating, the food choices are incredible, and there's so much to see. There is so much diversity and most people who work, play and live in the area were usually friendly and helpful. Live music everywhere, cool things to buy, and yes again the FOOD. Third time there, we all had a great time there!

Greatly enjoyed the French Quarter. It has such a varied mix of cultural influences. Buildings are all historic and some are really amazing. The fronts may not look as exciting, but if you can try to see the courtyards which are behind almost all of the buildings.

There is something for everyone: live music of all types, many types of cuisine, a great place for a walking history tour, etc.

Only shortcomings: plan to leave your car somewhere else and walk, as parking is limited. But you do get a much better experience of the town if you're on foot anyway.

Prices at some of the restaurants were a bit high, and more expensive isn't always better. Look for the menus posted in every restaurant's front window first. Definitely read reviews here and on Yelp before dining.
