Had the surf and turf (shrimp and roast beast) and it was phenomenal. Was visiting on business, a first-time visitor and people (staff and other diners) were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I put myself in the hands of the ladies cooking and they did me right. What a sandwich! Had to go to a meeting after or I could have spent the rest of the day there, drinking Dixie beer and eating more po' boys. Man, that was a good sandwich.

Bought the t-shirt, too.

This tiny restaurant and bar in an uptown residential area has not change for 30 years since I lived around the corner in the 80's. The poorboys are some of the best in the city. The oyster poboy is cooked to order on fresh French bread. Yes they do put catsup on the "dressed" sandwich but believe me it is great. Sit at the bar with a bottle of local Abita beer and enjoy the real New Orleans. Only change in 30 plus years are the prices of course. Still a great value. May it never change!!!!!!!!!!!

Went back to Domilise's this week after an18 year absence (I don't live there anymore). It still reigns King, and nothing has changed. Same delicious po-boys, same wonderful people (literally), same menu, same Barq's root beer, same stuff on the wall but with a couple of "new" autograph photos of Drew Brees and the Manning brothers. Had my staple -- Large roast beef po-boy, dressed, smothered and covered in swiss cheese and the most delicious brown gravy, slathered with creole mustard, all cradled in Leidenheimer bread -- it indeed remains the best roast beef po-boy on planet earth! Accompany the po-boy with a bag of Zapps chips and wash it down with a cold Barq's in a bottle -- and you'll wish you lived in Uptown N.O.
You couldn't recreate the atmosphere in a million years of trying -- its a N.O. institution. Its a small little place with limited seating, so you may have to stand at the door or wait outside a bit, but don't let a line scare you off. The tables clear out fairly quickly, and it's well worth the wait. You can polish off a cold beer while you wait.
BTW, the hamburger po-boy is pretty darn good too, so you can go back the next day!

This is the best shrimp poboy in the city of poboys. May be hard to find but well worth the effort. Forget the sides and if you are still hungry get another poboy. stick to the shrimp as it is by far their best sandwich.
