My husband and I went for a weekend getaway, and had a marvelous time. Don was our host and directed us to several great spots. The bed was comfy and the pillow was just like Home! I mention the sleeping accommodations as these are always pertinent to me, a wonderful vacation can be ruined by poor sleep! Our room had this awesome porch on the second floor that was accessible by a floor to ceiling window, so very cool! Yes the house was old, that’s the point!! You don’t go to a historical area and expect modern amenities, you expect the creak and groan of a house well loved. It was spacious and clean and nobody intruded on our weekend away! I’ve stayed at places where the owners or caretakers hover constantly and make me uncomfortable, this was not the case here. We enjoyed our coffee in the morning and a few evenings went to sleep at dusk worn out from our excursions. Restful and relaxing are the best words for this stay. We will be back!
Andrea is an incredible host and most accommodating. The house is beautiful, and communication with Andrea couldn't have been any better. We look forward to booking this property again the next time we are able to visit New Orleans.
Nice neighborhood. House is in need of serious cleaning and fumigation. Upstairs rooms were very warm at night. Was troublesome trying to get the caretaker to return calls. Was forced to leave messages.
Issues with cooling system, boiler, and cleanliness.
The house was beautiful. One of the owners is an artist with many of his pieces on display which were breathtaking. The street was quiet and close to but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to allow this country girl to sleep well at night. The bus ran one street down and the trolley 4-5 blocks away so we utilized mass transit instead of driving. Good food choices were close for dining. I would love to come back and stay again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at this lovely home. Indira was so kind, helpful, and accommodating during our short visit. The room was just as described with a great front balcony. You do share the bathroom with other guests on the floor but it was no problem at all. Bathroom is spacious and kept clean. Street parking available if you drive and catching the trolley isn't too far. We would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to New Orleans!
Andrea and Don's house is absolutely magical. I opted to stay here instead of a hotel so I'd get a chance to meet other people. It was the perfect choice. It's a few blocks from the St Charles street car and a few blocks from Magazine street shopping and dining. It was very easy to find parking within a half a block. The house is very big and quiet and I'll always think of it as my home in NOLA.
The room was great! We will be back for sure. Location was wonderful and the best was our kind host, Don. He was full of interesting information and made a great pot of coffee. It was fun living by like a local! Everything was clean and comfortable!
