“Kemil Beach - Natural, Relaxing, and Freeing!”
Reviewed July 14, 2015

This is one of our all-time favorite beaches. We have a boat on Lake Michigan, so we often cruise to the beach, anchor offshore, and wade in, but the drive to this beach is also beautiful with the tree-lined access road.

If you drive to Kemil Beach, keep in mind that the parking lot often fills up early on weekends. The only facilities for the beach are here in the parking lot.

From the parking lot, you can access trails leading up the dunes to secluded sandy refuge to lay out with some privacy or for picnics, or you can walk to the beach down a nice sidewalk.

The beach is clean, wide, and long. the sand from the waterline extends back to a grassy area before rising into the wooded dunes. At the main entrance to Kemil Beach, you'll find the greatest number of beach-goers, but a short walk down the beach (we usually go to the southwest) leaves the crowd behind and affords plenty of privacy for comfortable sunning. This beach is thong bikini and topfree friendly.

Whether by land or by lake, we highly recommend this length of beautiful beach in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

“Sand & Blue Water in the Midwest!”
Reviewed July 12, 2015

Stop by the visitor center first for maps and information. They are very helpful & informative. There are several places you can park for free & take a hike, swim, or just stroll along the beach. I wish it had been warmer when we went. Who'd have thought July 1 & 2 would be so cold?! On a clear day you can see the Chicago skyline far off in the distance. The locals are very friendly. And, if you need to call the park ranger for anything they are super helpful! My husband locked his keys in his truck & the park ranger got us out in no time. However, I don't recommend trying this! LOL

“A Gem of Nature that is a must see!!”
Reviewed July 8, 2015

The Dunes Park is one of my favorite places to hike, go to the beach, camp, and swim. The beauty of the dunes This park is so unique and special. The beauty of one of the largest fresh water lakes is also amazing. No matter how often you go the lake looks different but beautiful. Each season of the year the lake and dunes are beautiful in their own way. This is a gem of nature and a must visit.

“Holiday Weekend”
Reviewed July 7, 2015 via mobile

We had a fantastic trip to West Beach over the 4th of July weekend. My only complaint was that the beach was absolutely packed with people because of the holiday. The water was also freezing, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. The kids loved playing in the sand and no fish bothered us while we were swimming. The shower house was a little dirty, but that's almost unavoidable at beach with all of those people.

“Lots to do”
Reviewed July 4, 2015 via mobile

Great spot for various activities. We stopped by the visitor center. Great resources there for all local activities and Indiana tourism. We walked the Great Marsh trail and found much more activity among the wildlife than expected.
