This school is so large. As a driver from out of town, you have to be very aware of students on foot, bikes and scooters. There are bikers everywhere and they have their own bike lane. Looks like an active place to attend college.

“So I'm biased - it's my alma matter”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

What a great place to have gone to college. UW-Madison has something for everyone: great academic programs recognized among the nation's best, great athletic prorgrams with school spirit second to none, a great setting with year-round activities, a great world-wide alumni base of proud Badgers and a great community integrated into the Capitol City of Madison.

There's nothing quite like spending a summer night at the Memorial Union along the shore of Lake Mendota, taking in an outdoor concert on the Terrace with a local microbrew, a bratwurst and a scoop of student made Babcock Hall ice cream. Football Saturdays are great fun as is strolling the nearby State Street mall or farmers' market around the Capitol Square. The setting of campus along the lakefront means plenty of opportunities for water play, from swimming to renting a canoe or Sunfish sailboat from the Hoofers outing club. The dorms along the lake are in high demand. Winter doesn't mean holing up a burrow, not with all the opportunities for cross-country skiing, sledding or the opportunity for a huge snowball fight on Bascom Hill.

If you or your kids are considering a large, inviting, challenging, rewarding and all around great Midwestern public university education/experience, you owe it to yourself to check out UW-Madison. It was the best times of my life.

“Interesting Downtown Campus”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

If you park downtown west of the capitol building, it's very easy to walk west and find yourself on the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus. The campus has a variety of buildings -- new, old, contemporary, traditional. We particularly enjoyed a look at Bascom Hall with the Abraham Lincoln statue out front as well as the stadium, arenas, greenhouse, and garden.

“Historic traditional Midwest university”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Beautiful buildings which have been preserved and restored such as Bascom Hall and the Armory reflect a respect for original architecture. On the way to Bascom Hill enjoy more historic buildings. A beautiful campus which is spread out yet certainly navigable by foot. We were surprised we didn't see more bicyclists. Take your time and enjoy your walk.

“Still one of the most Beautiful campuses”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

The campus continues to be a really great place to stroll through. Highly recommend a walk down lakeshore path for a walk along the shores of Lake Mendota. So many renovations and new construction projects - but still plenty of green space.
