The University of Wisconsin at Madison is (in my opinion) the best campus of the midwest. It's a large campus, but quickly learnable and fairly easy to navigate. There are many areas of this campus that are one of a kind and not to be missed. In particular Babcock Hall for fresh, homemade ice cream on the lakeshore of the campus. First time and returning visitors shouldn't miss The Memorial Union at the corner of Park Street and Langdon. The Union is a great place to sit outside in the sun and enjoy people watching while dining or visit Der Rathskellar (a historic bar) located inside the Memorial Union.
I went to college here and the Campus is just as much fun now as it was when I was a student here. It's actually gotten better over the years with numerous improvements made to accomodate visitors. If possible, take in a Badger Football game at Camp Randall. With a capacity near 70,000 seating it's the ultimate environment for football.
