“An excellent hotel”
Reviewed February 18, 2007

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel mulitple times and have never had a bad experience. The rooms are always very clean and well maintained. The hotel is located in a business park so it is very quiet if you stay there on a weekend, but it is located not far off of the highway and getting to restaurants, shopping, etc is very easy. The staff is always very professional and ready to help. The pool and hot tub area is spacious and very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madison.

I'd agree with a previous writer; solid hotel, but fairly bad location. It is back in an office park area, which is nice for the quiet, but away from shopping/eating. Our family had a great time though, as we had little plans outside the hotel. Pool was nice, and room was clean and fairly well equipped. On the downside, the hotel ran out of towels, and they don't provide things like shampoo/conditioner. These didn't ruin our visit, but would have been nice.

Overall, we'd stay here again.

I stayed here on business for a week in February. Although a bit remote, the hotel is close to the airport, has easy access to major roads, and is just 5 minutes from the mall. I couldn't give it five stars, though: the facial tissues and toilet paper were rough and cheap. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, but the sheets and linens were old and rough! What a contrast to the otherwise nice room.

Location: It is a very short 15 minute drive from the airport. (I think they also have a shuttle to/from the airport) .It's close to a major road and a highway, and you can reach the mall in 5 minutes and downtown in 20 minutes. There's no immediate food or shopping - you definitely need a car.

Service: The staff were very helpful and very friendly. They have a bar in the breakfast room and sell drinks a couple nights out of the week.

Amenities: Medium sized pool with large area for lounging; small workout room; internet computer in lobby; small snack and sundries shop in lobby; free breakfast was pretty good, about Hampton Inn quality. There are at least two elevators, both pretty fast.

Room: The king suite was spacious. The room was very clean, and came with a small fridge, microwave, couch, armchairs, and coffee table. The bed and pillows were surprisingly comfy! The carpet and furniture looked just about new. AC/heater wasn't too loud. Large bathroom with lots of counter space. The only downsides were the rough t.p. and tissues, and the rough sheets and comforter.
The hallways were wide and the carpeting looked new - really nice.

Tourist note: There is a great tourist shop close to the hotel. You can find all kinds of cheese, postcards, gifts, etc. (I recommend the cheese curds and also the chocolate malt balls.) Also has an antiques section. From the hotel, make a right onto American Pkwy. Don't get onto 151, instead cross over it. On the other side, make a right at the first light. Then drive about one mile and make a right into a small side street. It is nestled behind a car dealership and looks like a small barn.

  • Liked — clean rooms and updated carpet and furniture
  • Disliked — rough t.p., tissues, sheets, and comforter

Stayed one night in January, 2007. The room just the right size. Check-in was smooth. We had to leave before the breakfast so I cannot give an opinion on that. If they could improve one thing it would be the size of the beds.

We were visiting family in WI for the holidays and chose La Quinta because it was pet friendly and close to the highway. We booked online and splurged on the whirlpool suite ($159). We found out after we checking in that there was a locally advertised Christmas rate. The front desk gladly adjusted the the rate to $104, and we got to keep the whirlpool suite!

The room was clean and updated with a microwave and fridge.
Both front desk staff we met were very friendly and helpful. One even lent us wine glasses from the bar to enjoy the champagne we brought for our stay. It was weird at first to stay at a hotel that is situated in the middle of an office park. But we quickly got over it and it really didn't matter anyway since we had a car. At night, it was nice and quiet and there was ample space to walk our dog. We had a great time, and I highly recommend this hotel!

  • Liked — Whirlpool, updated furnishings, cleanliness, friendliness of staff
  • Disliked — Location not close to downtown
  • Tips/Secrets — Call the hotel directly to ask for specials, or try priceline then upgrade the room for a small fee upon check-in

This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. It was very clean, the staff was friendly & helpful. The rooms were clean & quiet with lots of space. It was very close to shopping & restaurants. Great breakfast too. We didn't use the pool but it was a very large pool that looked nice. We will definitely stay here again!

Stayed one night (Friday) after touring the city. $50 bid on Priceline. This is a beautiful hotel with large rooms and bathrooms - the nicest LaQuinta facility I've ever stayed in. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, just can't say enough good things about them. Definitely a business hotel during the week - right in the middle of a large office park complex in a remote area. That is the only downside to the hotel (and the only reason I am not giving it a five star rating): difficult to find with no restaurants or gas stations nearby. If you have a car, no problem. I would be very happy to stay here again.
