Spent one night here on road trip. Hotel is a bit off the interstate but within a couple blocks of the state capital and surrounding restaurants. Overlooks the lake so as others have suggested, it's worth the lake view upgrade. Hotel has a traditional feel in a good way and corner room was good size with desk plus two easy chairs. The Executive Lounge is one of the largest and nicest we've seen in awhile and serves a great, full breakfast. Happened to be staying when there was a free outdoor concert at the adjacent convention/community center. Nice selection of restaurants within easy walking distance. We booked using HHonor points and it was a good value, especially with the full breakfast.

Room Tip: Corner room is not as important as having lake view. We rarely invest in view upgrades but we were...

I found this hotel through Priceline when I named my price. I offered $50 for the night and got it. Location can't be beat! You are two blocks south of the capitol and within walking distance of State Street (with great restaurants and shops), and you are almost on the banks of Lake Monona. There is a great paved path that you can follow around the lake, and there is a bike rental right across the street from the hotel.

The room was nice --- only drawback was no free WiFi and no mini-fridge in the room. We had a king-sized bed, so maybe other rooms have mini fridges. We faced downtown, so no good lake view for us.

We parked in the attached garage for $13 for a 24-hour period, with in and out privileges. There is a self-park across the street, but I didn't investigate the cost.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Hilton Monona Terrace last month. Our room was very nice- clean, spacious and very comfortable beds! Walking distance to many Madison attractions.

We stayed at the Hilton in Madison for a wedding this past weekend. First, the location is unbeatable. We were a quick walk to the bars and restaurants, plus only about a block away from the beautiful capitol building. The hotel is also right on the lake so you have the option of breathtaking lake views.

Another perk: The airport has a free shuttle service to and from the hotel. We took it both to and from teh airport and the young, college-aged drivers were super friendly and really knowledgable.

On the down side, we visited during one of the hottest weekends that Madison has ever seen. Since everyone in the hotel was using their air conditioning to the maximum, our room wouldn't get below 80 degrees. After one bad night of no sleep, they kindly moved us to a different room with full air conditioning. All-in-all, I would stay here again if I were visiting Madison.

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms are the best!

Thank you for staying with us while attending the wedding this past weekend. I'm glad you were able to take advantage of our location and shuttle service. We would like to apologize for the air conditioning; the extreme heat was a bit of a challenge. We do look forward to your return to Madison! Sincerely, David Buss, Assistant Front Office Manager

I am from Ontario, Canada and was recently in Madison for training at the Sub Zero and Wolf factory. We stayed at the Hilton there and I had to write how great my experience was. The rooms were fantastic!! Clean, spacious with all the amedities. The staff was always smiling and always ready to help. One inparticular helped make the experience even better. His name is Ethan and was working at the bar durring the trip. His service was fantastic, and took great pride in his work. I rarely write reviews, as I have a high expectation when I am paying for any service, but Ethan gave me a reason to do so. When I go back to Madison, there is no doubt that it's where I will stay. And lastly.....what a beautiful city.

We were visiting Madison for a wedding and were very happy with the hotel and it's location. The beds and Pillows were very comfortable, they served a great breakfast with wonderful options for a reasonable price. The terrace cafe also overlooked the lake and had nice lighter fare with a fantastic view. The location was just a couple of blocks from the Capitol and surrounding shops and restaurants. My kids had a much larger room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa, but the sleeper was disguised in a large sectional couch. The rooms either have a view of the lake or the Capitol building. Great stay, very nice hotel, and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view

The location of the hotel can't be beat. The renovations have really upgraded the rooms and the overall comfort level. There are still some rough edges in some of the rooms. Overnight parking is $13 and in really, really narrow spaces, as others have written about. You can walk across the skybridge to the lakefront, which is great for walking or running.

A solid but nothing spectacular hotel.
