“good location, nice hotel”
Reviewed January 7, 2008

We planned a trip to see relatives during the holidays and decided due to work committments in neighboring Sun Prairie to only come partially back home. We wanted to try this hotel chain again due to an upcomming trip where we were going to need an extended stay type hotel. Being comfortable with the Marriott brand, and due to the location, we chose this hotel.
The pool and whirlpool were great but the exercise equipment was in need of some TLC or updates. The equipment was functional, just not completely. The hotel was booked nearly to capacity because of terrible weather so even when we arrived late, we were surprised that our room was still waiting, and were surprised at the pleasant greetings from the woman working at the check-in desk.
Breakfast was great in the morning, TV channel selection was sufficient, bedroom/kitchen/bathroom were all clean and in perfect order. The bed was comfortable and there wasn't any noise to speak of. We would rarely have a need to stay this close to home but it definitely suited our needs.

We arrived late on the Friday of Labor Day weekend - around 11:30pm - nice girl gave us a key - I think it was #322 - way at the end of the hall -opened the door and were slammed by the smell of cigarette smoke.

Called down to the desk and she said " oh we always have problems with that room! " BUT was able to get us another room right away. This is a NON SMOKING hotel!

Nice breakfast, comfortable room - not at all new but well kept up. Friendly staff and GREAT location..

I spent one night at the Residence Inn in Madison Wisconsin on April 10th. The hotel is adjacent to I90/I94 at exit 135A. It is set back from the interstate highway enough so that freeway noise was not a problem. The hotel is located just a couple of blocks from a mall and many restaurants.

Check-in was Marriott fast, taking about one minute. I received a studio suite on the 3rd floor as I had requested. The entire hotel is non-smoking which I appreciate.

My suite was #300. It was very clean and smelled clean and fresh. It was at the top of the front stairs, far from the elevator which I appreciated. The rate was $130 per night.

The studio suite is very large, but there are no walls dividing the sleeping area from the living room and the kitchen. Traveling alone, this was ideal for me. The hotel also offers one and two bedroom suites.

The kitchen was very complete with a full-size refrigerator (with icemaker), a microwave oven, electric range, dishwasher, and everything else you might need in a kitchen. There was a table and chairs for two.

The living room had a queen-size sofa bed and a comfortable arm chair. The TV was located on the dresser on a swivel so that it could be seen from any area of the suite. The TV system had a lot of cable channels, but only had a couple of pay-per view movies – not the normal Marriott offering.

The queen bed was very comfortable and had the Residence Inn’s new bedding package. There were both feather and foam pillows. Lighting throughout the suite was excellent. It was below freezing during my one-night stay, but the heating worked well and kept the suite comfortable.

The bath area consists of a vanity area and separate toilet/bath room. The towels were good quality and the hot water plentiful. Bath amenities included shampoo and conditioner.

My room had a small work desk and a good office-style chair. Complimentary Wi-Fi high speed internet access was available and worked perfectly. Using the Speakeasy speed test download speeds averaged 440K and upload speeds 240K. Connection to our corporate VPN worked well also.

We arrived during the evening and the hotel was serving four different types of pizza from Uno Pizza. There was also beer and wine, all complimentary. There was a schedule in the room as to what was served each evening, Monday through Thursday, I think.

Breakfast was a treat. The complimentary buffet consisted of scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage, and oatmeal as hot items. Make-it-yourself waffles were also available as well as a good selection of breakfast breads. The coffee was excellent.

The hotel has a nice indoor swimming pool and hydrotherapy spa. There were plenty of clean towels available. Next to the pool is a compact exercise room with a treadmill, stair stepper, and stationary bike.

Everyone that I came in contact at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. I can recommend the Residence Inn in Madison Wisconsin as a convenient, comfortable, and friendly hotel

We spent 7 nights at the Residence Inn East in Madison. This is a pricey place but if you book way in advance you can sometimes get a deal. My deal seemed too good to be true and when I got there they tried to switch it for a higher rate... watch that. AARP appear to get a 50% discount on all bookings.

Most rooms have full service kitchens. The mattresses and bedding are to-die-for. Two different people I was with said they slept sounder then they ever did in their own beds.

One big perk is a full breakfast every morning (waffles you make yourself, eggs, sausage, french toast, fruit, english muffins... you name it).

Service is impeccable, as with most midwestern establishments.
