Nostrano's is potentially a very fine restaurant. Some of its dishes are excellent; others are over-prepared or pretentious. Your choice of dish will determine your reaction to this place. Portions tend to be small and some dishes are ridiculously salty. The service is fine, but the atmosphere is mediocre. Drinks are very pricey. A meal with drinks can easily top $50. I found the soups, salads, and desserts to be more satisfying than the entrees.

We scheduled a business lunch here. The appetizer selection was limited and we tried the salame platter. Skimpy portions, pretentious presentation. I had the fish sandwich (tasty) but the bread salads were lackluster. Cocktail hour might be a better fit.

We were looking for a place within walking distance from our hotel and stumbled across this gem. It was early evening on a weekday, so the place was empty. They have a nice beverage selection, the scallop appetizer was great, and we both had the rabbit boudin dish. Very tasty, small manageable portions. We had great service, too.

Visited on a Tuesday evening before having surgery at UW as a “last meal” of sorts. Quite yummy. I had heard good things and the food was delish. I had a squash soup to start and the pork belly for my main dish. Loved the simplicity of the menu. I really respect restaurants that pick a few dishes and do them well according to the season. The placed filled up quickly, which was nice to see on a weekday evening.

Sweet bigger-on-the-inside place just off the square. Do order all the courses, this restaurant does not offer oversized portions! Squash soup is amazing, and lamb dish is a highlight. Vegetarian pasta was not good.
