This is a wonderfully beautiful trail that goes through many towns and the bike trail affords you a good long ride and there is a really cool old bridge that you go through which remains at a very cool temp whatever the temperature is outside...very nice when it;s hot and humid out.

“Governor's Bend Locks Park..Off Co. F Outside of Portage, WI.”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

After the splendid dinning experience at the Levee Restaurant in Portage, WI. I traveled to Governor's Bend Park on Co. F. There, I found the beautiful park surrounded by the (now) very clean Fox River, and access to that part of Wisconsin's 'Ice Age Trail'. Ran into a lady and her dog who had never been there and offered to be somewhat of a guide...Very pleasant.

The path, known to me and many as the Marquette Trail, travels along the Fox River and is a beautiful piece of Nature's scenic solitude and spender. It's all pretty flat so that part is no issue.

As far as I know, there is no circle that brings you back to Governor's Bend Park. The trail simply goes North and South. Hence, we got to Clark Rd. turned left and walked back to the park on Co. F...Also very pleasant. The 'great news' is that it's available year-round and looks differently with every season. (I'll try to post some pictures)

My next tour will be to circle John Muir Park's lake, just a few miles down the road on Co. F. Again, there is a nice path. And, again...It will start with a visit to Robin's 'Levee Restaurant'.

That's the report. Your Pal...Bill

“Beautiful way to get some exercise”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Was staying in Verona on a trip and decided I wanted to get some exercise and try out my new zoom lens. On an overcast Saturday morning the trail had a few bikers and hikers but not many. I walked about 90 minutes but could have gone much longer. The trail is in multiple parts to keep the bikers and jiggers away from the nature. The were a very few pieces of litter but it seemed very clean and the trail itself was very well maintained. Saw a few ducks and a woodpecker. Likely it would be gorgeous in summer. If you are biking you have to by a pass but it is free to walk. All in all a great place to clear your head. Just be advised that I never saw any kind of bathroom facilities.

My wife and I went for a day hike and really enjoyed the area. Glad we went before the hot sunmmer we had. Make sure to take water with you, some areas have long stretches between water stops.
