We love indian food! When on vacation we usually look up reviews and go to well reviewed places. This place had mixed reviews, but we had a restaurant.com coupon and we decided to try it. We were very happy with the results. The ambiance was typical for an indian restaurant. The service was good. We were seated quickly, there was no wait. We ordered some chai tea which was ok. We had the vegetable pakoras which were not bad. We also had the garlic naan and the cheese naan. They were very tasty. The sauces were pretty good. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the special biryani. They both were outstanding. Great flavor and large portions. We left very satisfied and had leftovers. The price was a little on the high side, but the food was good.
We will stop again the next time we are in Madison,as we would be surprised if another indian restaurant would be much better. We enjoyed the food quite a bit!

Their website promises "intense flavours and aromatics". Not sure that's how the good people at Campbell's would describe their tomato soup, but that's what their chicken tikka masala tastes like.

OK, you might say: CTM isn't authentic Indian. What about the other items on offer? Well, the saag and chicken was similarly bland; the naan managed to be both greasy and dry at the same time, and wasn't topped up once in the 40 minutes or so we were there; the samosas were admittedly alright but the chutneys uniformly tasted of salt, except for the raita which tasted of nothing. Special mention must go to the tandoori chicken, which is without question the worst I've ever had. Often chicken tikka of this kind are over-marinated, rendering them mushy. This had the opposite problem: it was tough, dry, gristly, poorly marinated (but deeply coloured) and had no discernible tandoor flavour (assuming it was cooked in one.) Just awful.

I think Indian food is established enough in cities of any size in the USA, including Madison, that the chefs don't need to pull punches like this. The flavouring here was either lazy or poorly executed, or both.

Staff were very friendly, though, and water refills were prompt. Price wasn't too much but it wasn't even a case of "you get what you pay for."

Food was really good and excellent service. Went with a few people that had been there before so they ordered the apps for us. We with a big party but service was great. We all took food home for the next day. My first time eating this type of food and it was really good and will go back to this restaurant again.

Have been here several times - really tasty Indian food. They do a good buffet, however the dishes are all quite mild (to appeal to the masses) so if you want something more spicy you'll have to order from the menu. A little on the pricey side, but the food IS fantastic.
