Just had Tikka Lamb Kebab and Dal for takeout. Everything was great! And they now use all recyclable takeout containers!

Not sure what the issue was, but a recent Saturday night the Back of the House was a mess. Everything from appetizers to main courses for our table and many others came out mis-timed. Our two apps were served 10 minutes a part from each other, mains set 5 minutes apart. Saw two gentlemen next to us get one sandwich 20 minutes after we were seated and then 10 minutes later, got their second sandwich (they shared both plates as they came)
It was unfortuately a MESS and the servers were frenzied. In these situations I think BoH should come out and address the tables, explain, take the servers off the hot seat.
But please note, as in many other visits, the food is quite good.

Dobhan was a delicious surprise of the senses. Aromic herbs and sauces of northern India and Nepal mixed with a fusion flair of new age presentation.

I highly recommend starting off with the Crab Bonda made of pan-seared lump crab and potato on a bed of red cabbage topped with lemon aioli- Yum! And a great value for $5.

A favorite dish is the Masala Dosa, made of a huge rice pancake filled with masala potatoes and served with eggplant bharata and yogurt with mint sauce (see pic). Or the Coconut Tofu made of a sweet yellow curry sauce.

Enjoy a great atmosphere with open, high beamed ceilings, buddha statues, prayer flags, and a mix of ancient and local art, which reflects the fusion presentation of the menu.

We went to dobhan on a Wednesday night. It was really beautifully decorated. We had come on Mexican night, and so received some complimentary chips and salsa, which was a nice touch. What wasn't so appealing was the price tag of $9 for a single chicken taco. I wanted to try a few things, so I chose the side salad, dal, pakudas, and a small chicken, pepper, and cilantro dish. The salad was a little wimpy, with a sparse handful of spring greens, a couple julienned carrot shreds, and some red onion, with an orange balsamic dressing. It lacked in texture and wanted a small amount of oil. The dal was OK, but nothing to write home about. The service was rather slow for there only being about 8 customers in the restaurant. The pakudas were a bit heavy, served with tomato salsa, i thought they might better be served with a more sweet and acidic sauce to parry the rich pakudas. The small chicken dish was tasty, well seasoned, with some grilled peppers and onions, 'cilantro', served over rice. It was rather disappointing to see that the cooks had used chopped parsley, rather than cilantro, on a dish that specifically mentions cilantro, my fellow diners had the parsley scattered over their entrees as well. With all the options in Madison, I probably wouldn't give it a second try.

The food here is really, really good. The service is spotty, though overall pleasant -- but slow. Don't think you are going to get in and out with tickets to a show. And, if considering a bottle of wine, it can be best practice to ask what they have ready to go (the last time we were thirsting for a white and went through multiple options before finding one they could produce without having to bring it up from the basement and chill it to temp). Still, nice atmosphere and good pricing. And, again, did I mention the food is good? :-)
