If I hadn't been so tired, I would not have fallen asleep at this place. Why did the hallway smell like a Pizza Parlor? Doesn't anyone know how to use a vacuum? What is with the decades old bed covers and linens. Why is the bathroom so small? Breakfast is no good. I will stay somewhere else next time.

We arrived in Cortez late in the evening and figured we only needed a place to sleep as we were getting up early to spend the next day at Mesa Verde. When we checked in they said that there were only smoking rooms available. We have stayed in smoking rooms in Vegas and figured that these rooms could not be any worse. The rooms were so bad that my husband actually went across the street to the market and bought Fabreeze. We used two bottles of the stuff before we could get to sleep. Also the window in our rooms were screwed shut so we couldn't get any fresh air. The next morning the electricity went off in our room as I was blow drying my hair. Had to go to the lobby to notify them. (No one picked up the phone). Could not get out of there fast enough!!!

This is on the low side of super 8 quality. Staff was very nice.
However, property itself is a bit worn. Smelly hallways, pretty worn out paint in the rooms.
Just an older property.

It was ok to stay here for a couple of nights while visiting Mesa Verde but we did not exactly feel like rushing back to the hotel after a day of sightseeing.

Location is pretty convenient - 5-10 minutes from Mesa Verde entrance. Across the street from City Market. We did not see too many restaurants nearby. Couple of Fast Food places and Denny's.

Breakfast was pretty marginal too, worn out bagels and milk/cereal.

So all in all I think would consider staying here again if the prices are 30% less than other properties.

I'm here at this Super 8 and just fuming! We made this reservation nearly a month ago and in the special request we asked for a ground floor room upon arrival. Well, at check in we were told they had no ground floor rooms available and we were on, not the second floor, no we were on the THIRD floor!

We've been traveling via motorcycle for the last 12 days, and each night has been spent in a different town and a different hotel/motel/resort. Some of them have been Super 8's and some have not. The Super 8 in Fortuna'CA (they'll get their own POSITIVE review later) bent over backwards to welcome us and to accommodate us upon our arrival. They even allowed us to park our motorcycles under their "front door"overhang so the dew wouldn't get to them as much. How considerate!

After been banished to the third floor and having to make two trips to get our luggage and personal effects off of our bikes (no elevator!!!), we hiked the three flights of stairs to this dismal room. They positioned a table in front of the window A/C unit so as if to try and hide it's dilapitated state. After all the luggage was hauled in it was time to move our bikes. This would be their chance for redemption...they failed. I asked if we could park single file next to the curb under the overhang. After much hemming and hawing and excuses, I just said, "Fine!"and moved my bike to the hinterlands of the back parking lot,

In fairness, the manager wasn't on duty tonight, so we will give her a chance to "handle"this situation. I'm not too hopeful though,.

In 12 days we've traveled over 4500 miles...I just want good friendly service at the end of a long riding day!

This was convenient to Mesa Verde NP. The room was just OK. We were there for 1 night. We paid under 70.

Granted it's a Super 8 but does it have to allow parties in the parking lot and in the rooms? Do the rooms have to smell like body odor and the hallways like urine? The manager is constantly on the computer in the lobby, maybe that is why she has the job...free computer use. The room is basic, but for $70.00/night I don't expect it to be bottom of the barrel???
I have stayed at plenty of La Quintas and spent less and had much more and it was clean.
The rooms are quiet for the most part but just on overall "Eh" experience. Wouldn't come back to this hotel. This is the problem with traveling with a dog you are somewhat limited in where to stay. Too bad my dogs are better behaved than most of the folks that stay here. At least they don't pee in the stairway.

This place provides the basics... A bed, tv, bathroom. They allow pets, which is a plus. But don't come here expecting the finer things in life! You will get two pillows, two towels, a sad little comforter, and a bed that squeaks. The second floor is advertised as smoke-free but it is NOT. The hallways reek of smoke, but the rooms do not seem to be affected. Stat here if you're looking for a place to crash. Beyond that, you should look elsewhere.
