We stayed in the newer suites building, rather than the older part of the motel, and found it to be great. It is ideally located for touring area attractions, and our suite was clean and comfortable. It is also within an easy walk of downtown Cortez, giving you a chance to stretch your legs after a day in the car.

The property has a innovative indoor hot tub, but the pool is a little older. However, the pool met all of our needs.

The only problem I see is with the small breakfast area. When the property is heavily booked, there is little room to spare! However, you can always take your breakfast back to your suite!

Had a handicapped suite in May 2008. At $116 a night, I rate the hotel as above average. New carpet had recently been installed and the room had a "new carpet" smell. Staff was friendly. Bed was too soft for my taste. Havng a fridge and microwave in the room was convenient.

Negatives: very thin wall in bedroom, some noise from outside.

Very convenient to Mesa Verde.

I have delayed writing this review as I have been reflecting on this hotel for some weeks now. Overall I have to say hat this was the worst hotel we stayed in during our four week trip last month.

It is a typical motel on a busy highway with lots of traffic noise. There is really very little to commend it. Decent sized but dark room overlooking the parking area. Tiny bathroom with small window. Cheap toiletries and small rough towels. Odd smell when we arrived which only went after we left the windows and doors open for ages. Completely neutral reception staff and noisy housekeeping which started far too early. Dreadful breakfast area - completely unappetizing. Great supermarket across road though - thank goodness. WIFI out of order throughout all our stay.

Cortez is quite big and almost forgettable however a couple of pretty good eating places up the road from this hotel.

All in all if you are not discerning and are just looking for somewhere to sleep then there must be worse in the area if this is ranked no 2 on this website. Mesa Verde is good if only some of the visitors there gave it some respect. Overheard one American ask how long the hour long tour took - that got a round of applause from me!!

  • Liked — very little
  • Disliked — strange room smell and lacklustre reception staff

After a full day of exploring Mesa Verde National Park I was ready for a good nights sleep on night number five of eight nights in southwest Colorado. The Best Western Turquoise Inn was just the place. Although located on Main Street (US Highway 160), I did not notice any traffic noise. The motel room was decorated in southwest décor and appeared to have been renovated in the last few years. The room was perfectly clean with small refrigerator in the room. The free breakfast included the standard offerings plus yogurt, biscuits and gravy, and make-you-own-waffles. I would stay here again.

We stayed in Cortez to visit Mesa Verde, which is a phenomenal park. The Best Western at Cortez was a great place for our family of five. The room was nice, the pool was great for the kids, and the complimentary breakfast was very good, much nicer than other breakfasts we have experienced on this trip in other hotels. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here one night. The room was on the 2nd floor and had a nice big patio outside in the front. The outdoor pool was nice and the indoor pool was small but very lovely. The hotel lobby had internet and was very spacious. Since I was doing laundry that night I loved that there were two different places in the hotel that had a washer and dryer. I was able to do both loads at one time. The breakfast was fabulous, homemade waffles, yogurt, all the goodies. The room had a fridge. The only thing I didn't like was that the sink was in the bathroom with the shower and toilet. It was a Very Small area and felt like I had to squeeze to get in to it. The room was good size, we had the 2 queen bed room. Plenty of room for our cot.
