“Everything One Would Need”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

We stayed here one night. The rooms are large, clean with a refrigerator and coffeemaker with several packages of coffee or tea. The washroom has been recently upgraded. A good selection of restaurants are located within a short walking distance should you wish to have some exercise. The breakfast was quite good as the staff ensured that the breakfast choices were always fresh, including the cooked options. Good wireless internet connection is also provided.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms are quieter than those located on the main floor. However, no elevator is availa...

This two story (walk up) property has 67 rooms and 31 suites and is located across the street from a food store, bank and gas station. We are able to park right in front of our very clean first floor room, which was wonderful! The front desk receptionist and every other employee we ran into are very friendly and helpful. The lobby is clean and large with many seating areas. Behind the lobby is a nice gift shop and breakfast area with a 42” flat screen TV. Right outside the large indoor breakfast area is an outdoor breakfast area with a wonderful large water feature. The suites face this water feature as well as the lush green grass. Suite guests are quietly sitting outside their rooms enjoying the water feature and the cool fall air. There is another water feature in the parking lot.

The clean large indoor hot tub is located right off the breakfast area and has a rock fountain and is handicapped accessible. The room and hot tub is too warm for our taste but most would appreciate the high temperature. The hot tub is open until 12mn – great for those checking in late. The outdoor heated pool looked inviting, but we are too tired to go in. Despite having a pool / hot tub, there was no clothes line in the bathroom to hang a wet bathing suit.

There are two clean laundry areas with one washer and dryer in each. There could be two washers and dryers in each laundry room, or another laundry room in another section of the hotel. This would cut down on the time it takes to do laundry. The ice machines are located in the laundry rooms as are a vending machine for drinks.

The carpeted room is approximately 400 square feet and includes the following:

• card key for room access
• king bed with small pillows
• triple sheets
• high and narrow (for privacy) windows that open
• two night tables
• two reading lamps over the bed
• regular clock radio (does not charge iElectronics)
• chair with ottoman, an end table and lamp next to it
• desk with a mirror over it, a rolling chair, and a lamp next to the desk which a computer can be plugged into
• unit that contains three drawers and a small refrigerator (no freezer) with the 32” TV soft top bench in dressing area
• hanging clothes rack with attached hangers
• suitcase bench
• padded four foot bench with mirror over it
• granite table with a large mirror and light over it and a coffee maker, supplies and ice bucket
• three different kind of luscious soaps and Bath & Body Works shampoo, conditioner, lotion and mouth wash
• bathroom with granite counter top
• window in bathroom
• separate heater in the bathroom
• tub / shower with curved shower rod
• hair dryer
• iron / ironing board
• in room safe
• pet rooms for fee
• smoke free rooms
• free parking (not necessarily at your door)
• free WiFi

I was thrilled to see a “Clean Remote” which is a remote that has been designed specifically to make it easy to clean and disinfect. My hubby was happy to see that remote too because I didn’t have him wipe it with a disinfectant wipe before using!

In our room we found a door hanger for personalized service tomorrow. We specify if we want a full cleaning of the room, towel refresh & trash removal only, or no service required. Other choices include requests for extra blankets, pillows, towels, & coffee. (We could call for these things tonight.) They even gave us a choice for room cleaning time!

The breakfast is delicious and served up until 9:30am. The area is meticulously clean and there is a staff member making frequent rounds to keep it that way. There isn’t the usual “excuse me” as we try to maneuver around getting breakfast. In addition to the usual breakfast items, scrambled eggs and sausage are available and there are two waffle makers. Lids for cups and trays are available to bring breakfast back to our room.

We were very happy staying in the Best Western - Turquoise Inn & Suites and would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Cortez. It was reasonably priced, clean and convenient. The kids enjoyed the large indoor hot tub even though the room steamy and the chlorine was very strong. Rooms are a nice size, but the bathroom is awkwardly arranged. We would stay here again.

We had a mixed experience at this hotel so I will break it down:

Pros: Close to Mesa Verde entrance, Restaurants Nearby
Very nice staff, especially the woman staffing the breakfast area.
On-site laundry facility, pool

Cons: Older rooms, window airconditioner, rooms in the front are a bit noisy

Tips: There is a pretty sitting area in the middle of the hotel . The rooms off of this area
seemed to be more peaceful.

While we were not unhappy with our stay, we wished that we had stayed within Mesa Verde, as it
is a long drive to from the entrance of Mesa Verde to the visitor's center and sites.

It took two days to get a microwave. The toilet was placed so close to the sink vanity that your left side was completely against it and your arm had to be on the sink (I am not a large person!).
It was so uncomfortable I couldn't wait to check out.

Mr. Scott,

On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. We have limited number of microves, and unfortunatley at the time of your request all of our microwaves were currently being used. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future.

I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.

If I can provide any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at 970-565-3778 .

This is an economical place to stay in Cortez, particularly in the winter. The hotel/motel is showing its age, although interior of my room was spacious and comfortable enough. Breakfast, by the time I got to it at around 8:00 am, was kind of overcooked (scrambled eggs, sausage patties and biscuits & gravy, so I opted to make a waffle, which was good and fresh. Staff appears to have done the best they could with an older, dated facility.
