“Great Old-Style Motel”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

The Turquoise Inn is an old hotel, but has been maintained and upgraded so that it is a very good place to stay. We had two rooms which, unfortunately, were not close together because one was a special 2-room suite. The check-in staff very helpfully offered to change our location but was unable to because there was a conflict on the second night. The suite overlooked a pretty little garden area with a fountain; the other room was fronted by a sidewalk and was a little dark because the windows were high to provide privacy. However, it was very spacious except for the bathroom which was small. A long counter outside the bathroom door provided space for cosmetics and personal items, plus the coffee maker. They provided a nice array of high-quality toiletries.

The breakfast was outstanding. There was a large selection of hot and cold foods; the scrambled eggs tasted like real eggs, the sausage and biscuits and gravy were good. The woman in charge of the room was very efficient and friendly, making sure that everything was replenished and that we were finding what we wanted.

This is a clean and friendly place, close to Mesa Verde, and I would definitely recommend it.

Our 4 person family stayed here 3 nights to visit Mesa Verde. For such a small town it was a nice option, and the price was half of other Best Westerns I have stayed in. That being said, we found that the room was dark and the bathroom was woefully small, to downright inadequate, with no exhaust fan. The room itsself was large and had a sofa, which was nice, but we were unable to plug electronic devices into the plugs because of their large size. The beds were comfortable but the room smelled musty and not clean. The towels were also very thin and not up to Best Western standards, and there was nowhere to hang them. There was a lot of noise from the other guests in the courtyard and from the street traffic. The hot tub is nice and large but way over chlorinated, and the pool was just okay. Breakfast staff were top notch but the place to eat seemed too small for the size of the hotel. Front desk staff were just okay based on what I have seen at other similar places.

Room Tip: Get one back in the rear courtyard away from the front parking and pool. It's much quieter back...

Good little Best Western. Had a basic one bed queen room. Suited our needs and the breakfast was good.

WIFI hard to use in the evening if that is an issue for you.

Extremely loud Air con. Had to actually turn it off, as it is a power saver - so kept on going on and off which is what kept us up!

I stayed with family suite #110. Was really impressed with the special touches, like the courtyard with waterfall and grill area, the indoor spa that was the largest I have seen and the size of our room.

Very clean, well maintained and quiet. I am a very light sleeper and sensitive to any noise. My room was so quiet, I did not hear anything and slept the entire night which is rare for me.

Every staff person I encountered was friendly, warm and helpful.

Nelly and her daughter were diligent and hard workers that kept the breakfast area well stocked and clean. I was so impressed with their desire to keep the area spotless, and fresh. They take pride in doing a great job and are very polite and friendly.

I also liked how secure the area was with locked doors.

I did not have any problems with the electrical outlets, I used my laotop and my C-pap machine.

The back parking area was clean and well lit.

Room Tip: It may be quieter if you have a room on backside of motel away from swimming pool

They did a nice job remolding the facade of this motel, but I think they should have spent more on double pane windows and insulation, the walls are thin and with the courtyard style there is too much noise. The room was small and dark, but clean and comfortable. For the price of this room I would expect more.

We spent a night here on our way to another destination. The staff a was accommodating and friendly. The motel is older but the rooms were updated and fresh. The bathroom is small but functional. The only fault I can share is the plugs in the room are ancient and too huge for laptops, cell phones and cpap machines. We had a hard time making them connect or even stay in the wall. I would have preferred a price about $15-20 cheaper, but over all, I will stay there again.

Room was musty, parking was poor, breakfast was poor, tastless and of poor quaility. Best should not be part of this establishments name. Aircondition unit was nosiy sound from unit upstairs and next door come through the walls and ceiling. If possible try a different motel chain.

Room Tip: try the suites, they are better rooms but they don't tell you that when you make resverations.
