Came for dinner after visiting Mesa Verde. Great Carbs! We thought the eggplant parmigiana and meatballs were great. Service was friendly and we recommend it!

Having been to Nero's many times in the past, enjoying both the food and service; our most recent visit indicated either a bad night for the staff or a change in direction. The food was average at best and the service slow and incompetent. There aren't many choices in Cortez and Nero's was always a good one, but I will look for other options when next in the area.

I had the Meditteranean Penne and my husband had the lasagne. We both loved our meal. Prices were also reasonable.

When we arrived in Cortez, we looked at all the reviews for restaurants, but we had been traveling throughout the Southwest for the previous two weeks, so we really wanted something different from Mexican food. We happened upon Nero's, which serves primarily Italian food, and we were glad we did. The dining room is small, but we arrived before 6:00 p.m. and did not have to wait for a table. The service was attentive and friendly, and the selection of both food and wine excellent. We ordered from the "light menu," which presents some smaller entrees, and the portion sizes were perfect. My husband got an excellent small sirloin with a mushroom sauces served on mashed potatoes, a side of vegetables, and a cup of soup to start. I had a 1/2 portion of lasagne and a side salad. Garlic bread is also served with the meals. Both of our entrees filled the plates! The prices were relatively inexpensive, enabling us to order a 1/2 liter of cabernet as well. The food was so well prepared that we returned to Nero's on our second night in Cortez. While we thought we might try another restaurant, we just couldn't resist going back to try something else on the menu, especially when the food was excellent on our first visit. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing restaurant with good prices and a great variety of well-prepared food, Nero's is the place to go.
