This is a locally owned and operated establishment, with all the you would expect of the same. Jack and Janelle are typically on scene, often serving tables while overseeing the kitchen. If you are expecting the polished stereotypical training and service that you find in the chains, this will not be the place for you. This is more of a country atmosphere, un-rushed and local hangout.
The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. I generally eat here for dinner on my way through Cortez and have never been disappointed when ordering whatever the special is for that evening. The salad bar is basic but satisfying enough.
In a few of the reviews some mentioned that the staff was less than friendly, other reviews indicated the opposite. This is most likely because it is run by the owners, family and whoever they can get to work for them at the time. Because it is popular with locals, during their busier times I can imagine there are moments when they get overwhelmed. If you like local fare and service, can be a little patient and unhurried during their busier moments, you will be satisfied with the home cooking and value.
