My friend and I chose this hotel based on the price as well as location and great reviews. We were not disappointed. We knew going in that this was not a high-end motel, so we weren't lamenting the lack of slick new fixtures or a swimming pool.
We reserved one of the lowest priced rooms, but after making our reservations were sent an email almost immediately upgrading us to their largest suite because it happened to be available. This was done at no cost to us.
The DVDs in the living room were a nice touch and utilized by us on the first night when we were too tired from the drive up to do anything out and about.
Armando and Joseph, the hosts, were both very kind and helpful. We definitely enjoyed both of their recommendations, Central Park and Cafe 1217.
There was a bit of noise at night due to street traffic and a street cleaner, I imagine this is due to the older buildings/ windows, but I like older construction, I think it has character! Again, it was worth it to me for a lower price and I do think that the charm of this place made it much more fun to stay in than another cheap "motel."
I was really not expecting much, for the price, and my expectations were exceeded. Sheets were changed during our room clean (I expected the bed to be merely made,) towels replaced, table straightened up. Our breakfast basket had enough to last us for two days so we called to cancel the one the next day.
This review is rambling, but suffice it to say: Great value for the price, don't expect a typical chain hotel, enjoy the character of the place and the great location.
