I first camped at Gulpha Gorge in May 1964. We happened upon it when my Ford Falcon started overheating while pulling a pop-up camper. Our plans were to go to the Smokies, but after initially planning to stay here in Hot Springs for the night, we concluded our entire vacation parked here at Gulpha Gorge and enjoying Hot Springs. I have stayed here about 15 times throught the years. My first impression of the park was "manicured" and after just returning again (April 2012) my impression is still "manicured." Amenties have improved tremendously recently. Nearly all national parks are without amenities except restrooms, water, and dump station and Gulpha Gorge fit this description until about 5 years ago. It now has full hookups and resembles a first rate commercial campground on amenities. (But still no showers!) The hosts there are incredibly friendly and welcoming. My favorite place to camp!!
