The bathhouses along Bathhouse Row are also so beautiful and each has its own unique character and architectural details. Having been here years ago when most of the bathhouses were vacant and in disrepair, it is nice to see so many of them are now renovated and given new life, being leased by the National Park Service to businesses including shops and a brewery. Some still function as bathhouses. If this is your first visit here, be sure to go to the visitor’s center located in the Fordyce Bathhouse. You can get information about the park and tour the bathhouse to get a feel for what it was like here when people came here for their health. I didn’t do that this time, but I’ve done it before. As you walk along Bathhouse Row, be sure not to miss the architectural detailing on the business buildings across Center Street. I think the art deco Medical Arts Building is especially beautiful.
Tip: There is free parking in a parking deck behind the row of businesses across from the bathhouses. There are signs on Central Ave. pointing the way to the parking deck.
