Owner description: The main draw of Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is the Mound City Group, a collection of large reconstructed mounds commemorating the Hopewell tribe.

This park includes a very well done museum which includes amazing prehistoric Indian artifacts, like effigies of falcons, beavers, and other animals, as well as tools the Hopewell Indians used. The ranger in charge of it showed us a 20-minute documentary to introduce us to the Hopewell culture and their mounds, which was very well done. The mounds are very well preserved, and include excellent signs with explanations. There is also a store where you can buy books, videos, and other interesting materials to help you better understand the Hopewell culture. A must see for children and adults.

I took a trip to Hopewell Culture National Historic Park in the Ohio River Valley which was well worth the visit. They had and outstanding video on the Native Peoples who live there 2000 years ago and showed a highly advanced native culture. They buried their dead in a great number of mounds and with artifacts that had been acquired from many corners of America. The Rangers worked with the visiting school children and demonstrated many of the skills that the native peoples used in their daily activities.

Made a little stop at this park after the Adena house. This was neat to see and for my 9 year old who was just studying this in Ohio history. Nice place to walk around and a nice path by river.

If you are really interested in prehistoric Indian culture, This is a good stop. Mounds were destroyed by US Army in 1917, and rebuild for the park.

The informative film and talk from the rangers made the experience more meaningful. Since I was not able to walk the grounds, they really helped. I enjoyed the gift shop and the Indian flute CD I purchased is one of my favorites.
