“One of the better home stay in Yilan.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

There are thousands of home stay in Yilan but this is one if the best. Why? It's near the beach (facing turtle island), quiet, windy, behind a mountain (where you can paraglide down), near a restaurant (Mr Brown), near a fish market, food at this home stay is THE best, room is BIG, Clean & Comfortable. What's more that you need to enjoy a relaxing stay? But price is not cheap and probably why it remain special.

We didn't start off well as we reached there too early on an overnight flight, and when we were there, we were tired with no rooms to go to as the checkout time is only at 11am. Although they told us initially that we had to wait till 2 plus to get our room, they actually had the room ready when we returned at 12pm. From the exterior, on 1st look, it didn't look as magnificent as what I saw on the website especially when backdoor view (we entered from there) is quite different from the front door. However, things only got better once we got our room.

We stayed in Apollo and it was WOW. They had almost everything you could possibility wanted in the room. It was quite a huge room for the 4 of us.
- Drinks and snacks were adequately stocked.
- For entertainment, we had 2 big TVs, DVD players, music players, CDs and books available in the room. There were DVDs rental too but with so many channels (100 plus) available on TV, I had no time for DVDs.
- The thing I love most is the bathroom! I love that big and deep tub. The owner provided lavender oil for the bath and it was simply lovely. Filling and emptying the tub is so easy.
- Oh, the bathroom comes with sauna too! Imagine that!
- The big shower head and the temperature control tap made taking a shower so enjoyable.
- There was also a humidifier or dehumidifier (couldn't remember) in the room.

When we check-in, they provided us info of the sunset and sunrise. We had cloudy days and so didn't get to have beautiful sunrise but it was such a breeze to be a few steps away to view it. It was really easy to wake up 15 minutes earlier to catch the sunrise at 5:04am.

The breakfast and dinner in the café was simply sumptuous. You could sense the thoughts that were put in in preparing those menus.

Before we left, they showed us the other 2 rooms, Venus and Poseidon, and my goodness, those were beautiful and gorgeous! Poseidon had a rooftop tub! From there the view to the beach was so clear and beautiful. Such a romantic setup.

The only hiccup we had was the arrangement of the island trip which they misinformed us the time, and as a result we didn't make it for that. We booked the 9am trip but only in the morning at 8am we were told that the ship set to sail at 1030am and not 9am. Not sure why such last minutes changes but it will be good to confirm and double confirm with them on your booking.

3 of us were planning for a homestay in Taiwan after having seen so many documentaries on homestays. We actually wanted a rainforest type of homestay so that we can do a little bit of trekking but we stumbled on SeaLuv in the website and thought perhaps a seafront isn't too bad.

We stayed in the Bali-themed room. Though there is no sea view, the room was cosy and has everything you can expect from a 5-star hotel and even more! We love dining in their little cafe. The decor is beautiful, coupled with personalised breakfast (which you can never find in hotels) and the unbelieveable aromatic coffee/cupuinno/latte. The whole dining experience beats any 5-star hotel when you sat facing the Pacific Ocean just outside the cafe. A walk on the Pacific Ocean with its black (not dirty but natural) & fine sand is simply awesome.

The owner 聪哥 is friendly and when you chat with him, you can feel his passion in running this homestay. He even brought us to the harbor when he buys live fish for dinner. We saw how the locals rushed for fishes fresh from the sea, a scene which we don't see back in Singapore. He even drove us to a beautiful place where we came close to the Pacific Ocean splashing against big/small rocks. Accordingly to 聪哥 that place is not well-known to tourists and it happens to be one of his favorite morning walk place.

Oh and we simply adore 聪哥's son Kevin; he's a great cook for his age, and he's so sweet to send us to the train station every morning when we are ready to begin our exploration in Yilan's various towns. Kevin's pumpkin soup is a MUST! The best I've ever eaten. Also his mango pudding! Yummy-licious!

According to 聪哥, the best months to visit is Jun/Jul/Aug, and I highly recommend SeaLuv for those who are looking to simply relax and enjoy the nature.

We stay at sealuv after recommendations from a friend. The place was a short drive from toucheng station and rooms face the beautiful sea with unique black sand.
The owners greeted us at the train station and drove us to the accomodation. UpOn arrival there was a nice tea served before we were brought to our rooms. Clean, sleek design and relaxed room awaits us. Almost can spend the entire day in the room! There are also books and DVDs you can loan to watch in the room.
Superb place for families with young kids and couples on a romantic escapade.

My wife and I wanted to spend our anniversary relaxing by the beach and found this bed and breakfast gem. My wife thought the Mediterranean-style interior really added to the romantic atmosphere, and I received all the credit. :) I was impressed by the outdoor jacuzzi, the private en suite steam room, the giant sunken bathtub with water jets, and two big screen TV entertainment centers. We made mimosas in the morning and could either lounge on our private patio or walk 20 steps from our front door to the beach. There was even an outdoor area where we could rinse the beach sand from our feet before we reentered our private patio.
We made dinner reservations, and the owner went to the local fishermen's wharf to buy the freshest seafood for dinner. Paired with the perfect wine, it was an amazing anniversary experience. I can't recommend this place highly enough. When you see, Mr. Wu, please say Martin says hi.
