This was a one night stopover in the hill country of Sri Lanka. We were greeted with hot flannels an soup. It was most welcome as it was very cold outside. The room was spacious and after a short delay to fix the electrics, all went well. I enjoyed a game of snooker on the full size table. The restaurant needs a bit of a face lift but the food was good. Buffet style breakfast.

Excellent Hotel. Superb food. We had a very special message written in leaves and flowers for Fathers Day. Thanks to Christantha. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. One of our party told the waiter she did not like certain foods. The Chef came and in no time at all presented her with a meal that met with her requirements. That's what real service is all about. This Hotel provides it.

We stayed three nights at St Andrews and were glad we had chosen to stay at a nicer hotel as the weather was terrible!
The rooms are quite big but a little on the dark side. We felt the cold here and used the little heater provided but would have appreciated a larger heater with more grunt!! We appreciated the satellite tv coverage and the blankets.
The food was very good and the food and beverage staff are lovely.
We paid $115 a night and probably wouldn't want to be spending any more than that. We did venture to the Grand Hotel which was spectacular but we assume it also comes with a spectacular price tag.
Location is great with an easy walk in to town.

We only stopped by for one night in Nuwara Eliya on the way to the airport from the east of the island. We read about the town and its colonial history and thought it was worth checking out.
Although there is still some colonial charm, there is actually very little to do there outside horseracing in August, and it was raining most of the time too!
But the St Andrew's hotel was a great place to soak up the colonial past in a well run place, which has retained its past but also added some modern touches (bar and restaurant).
The rooms were clean, well decorated and spacious and there is a nice lounge with log fire to have afternoon tea.
If you're into golf, the hotel overlooks the course and gardens and surrounding views from the hotel are lovely.
The food in the restaurant was ok. I expected more from the hotel but we had a nice meal and the restaurant was pretty full, which made for some atmosphere, unlike the rest of the town which felt like it was deserted!

My colleague and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night on Saturday, 1 June. Everything was very efficient and staff were very helpful and courteous. The reception staff were polite and check in process was smooth. The room and bathrooms had just been refurbished and they had nice toilet amenities. They also had satellite TV - and I could keep up with news from Aljazeera and BBC. The wifi was free and I had good connections throughout the hotel. The room had a heater and everything was clean. The food was nice and there was nothing that I could be critical or complain about. We travelled by train from Colombo and organised to be met by the hotel's driver. I highly recommend this if you are travelling by train, as otherwise you will encounter a lot of hassesls by touts at the train station. Also if you travel by train - make sure you book a reserved cabin and take some food and drinks with you as the journey from Colombo can be long - 7 hours and they not sell any food or drinks on the train.

We stayed 01 night at St. Andrew's (29/05/2013) & enjoyed our vacation. Food is excellent and nicely decorated in every meal. All staff served in friendly and very helpful in every movement. Can recommend to any one. Management should pay attention on room condition, because water over flow from wash room and damaged wooden floor, walls are cracked.(room no.118).
Overall very good hotel for your vacation.

Colonial Sri Lanka at its best...a step back in time. The rooms are traditional English style and the staff are first class very attentive. It rained all of the time that we were there but that simply didn't matter, Ishran the naturalist offered a night frog tour which was superb, we saw lots of native frogs o Sri Lanka along with a variety of insects....excellent. Would visit again.
