We loved this hotel but just a shame we only stayed for 1 night. Enjoyed both dinner and breakfast, pleasant staff and clean rooms with stunning views.
Really liked the interior of the hotel, very smartly done.

The Hotel is located in the middle of a tea estate. Beautiful scenery, friendly staff and tasty food were some of the most attracting features. Additional meals served (with out request) were extra ordinary! We enjoyed the complimentary strawberry basket left for us. The activities such as tea plucking and nature walks were entertaining for the children. Music at dinner was great. It was a great holiday

This is a lovely hotel set in against a wonderful backdrop of tea plantations and vegetable gardens high in the fog shrowded hills. It has captured all the charm of a bygone age.
The only problem with this hotel is the drive in from the main (and I use this term advisedly) road. It takes a good 45 minutes to reach the hotel along one of the worst maintained roads we travelled and we saw some pretty ordinary ones. A hotel of this standard and charging the rates that it charges should up their game and improve the road to their property.
Aside from the trip there we found everything about the hotel to be great. The rooms were clean and spacious as were the bathrooms. The food at the hotel was excellent - my wife had the a-la-carte and I had the buffet dinner and both were good, which is just as well as the hotel is the only place locally that you will be eating dinner, there being no where else to eat within a long drive.
It is well worth doing the nature walk that is offered most days, this takes you through the tea plantation and into the surrounding forest where you can see local birds and the spore of a range of animals. In adition it gives you some great photo opportunities.
This is not a hotel for those who are looking to save money, it is one of those places that cost a little but you do get your monies worth.

The first thing I should say about Nuwara Eliya is that the winding mountain roads are awful. We were very glad to stop at Mackwood’s tea factory on the way for a tour and the best pot of tea we have ever drunk in our lives! Needless to say we stocked up on several boxes to bring home with us. We stayed at the Tea Factory Hotel, which is a converted tea factory and has to be seen to be believed. It was truly astonishing (in a good way) and we had our best meal here since our arrival in Sri Lanka. The drinks, however, were rather pricey.
I loved it - and it made a refreshing change to stay in a hotel that had the heating on at night rather than the air-con - but I had the worst night's sleep ever: our room was on the top floor and it was blowing a gale outside - I feared the roof would be lifted clean off!
I highly recommend the hotel - but don't stay on the top floor!

We stayed here in February as part of a tour of Sri Lanka. It was certainly a trek getting up there, but it was really worth it.

As a converted Tea Factory it is a really unique place to stay. The conversion has been done to retain much of the internal and surrounding workings, making it interesting also.

The room was comfortable, with all that you you want, and a quite breathtaking view out over the tea plantations. The restaurant was okay. The buffet has a good selection of local and some western dishes. There is also a small bustling bar to sit and drink. There is a train carraige restaurant that we did not try.

At 7000ft elevation it is not as hot as some other areas, and can get quite chilly. Fortunately we had fantastic warm sunny weather, particularly in the morning, offering great views.

There is a small tea factory where you can find out how the tea is made, before buying some in the shop.

If you get a chance go for a walk out into the tea bushes for some great views of the hotel and plantations.

Service was top notch from the welcome to the goodbye.

There is not much around here so not sure that it's worth staying more than one night, but certainly worth a look.
