Good hotel that is situated in a tea estate. Has the ambiance of a tea factory. Has a small tour display of the tea making process. Average to mediocre food at the restaurant. Concern is that the hotel chain mgmt has a policy that states that persons over 12 years are considered as adults. Thus we a family of four had no choice but to get two separate rooms, which restricted the family fellowship. In North America, this manner of restrictive policy is not prevalent, expecially in establishments such as Homewood Suites by the Hilton chain.

We stayed two nights at the Tea Factory as part of a tour around Sri Lanka at the beginning of August. What a place! The conversion from factory to hotel has been done very sympathetically, and staff were all friendly, courteous and would do all they could to make our stay as special as possible. The buffet meals both at breakfast and dinner were first rate with a very wide choice of both Sri Lankan and Western food, but the highlight has to be the dinner in the railway carriage. Not only was it a fun and unique experience, but all 7 courses were absolutely superb. We were given tours of both the little tea factory and the cottage garden. Would certainly stay here again if in Sri Lanka.

fantastic five star experience at tea factory... we booked this hotel for 2 nights in July end and we had fantastic experience of luxury... hotel is located on the hill and has tea gardens surrounding it...

It has fantastic entrance... hotel has 3 restaurants although we just went to only 1 restaurant biggest one all time.. Food was excellent...price of food was very reasonable..

We had gone around the gardens next day morning and it was all lush green, we enjoyed the walk.. to our surprise when we came back to our room it was decorated with some flower leaf...The wind flow was so strong at night and evening that you feel to wear jackets to go out in such strong and cold wind... Wind flow at late night was very loud and it made difficult for person like me to sleep well, as I am sensitive to sound...

Even though I dint able to get sound sleep... overall I had good experience of hotel stay and food

After driving around Sri Lanka for two weeks, we arrived at this magnificent old renovated Tea Factory in the mountains, and it was though we had driven into another world.

The building has a colonial charm about it, and the grounds and views are superb. Sitting back in the gardens with a pot of Tea (a bit of a change from Lion Lager for me) and watching the fog roll in of an evening was quite mystical. You will need a pullover in the evenings.

I see someone complained about the Buddhist Temple/parade, but we felt that it just added to the experience.

The rooms are small and basic, but they are comfy and definitely don't have a run of the mill Hotel feel about them.

As it is a fair way from anywhere, you tend to eat here but we found the food and service to be great. Sri Lankans love a buffet, but even though it's not really our style, it was the best variety we had on the trip. The chef even came out to ask our opinion.

There is a nice little bar for pre dinner drinks, which we utilised!

I tend to think most people stay overnight on their tour around, and two nights is probably maximum but It's a good base from which to explore Nuwara Eilya.

The staff are exceptionally trained and very friendly. Just chat to them about cricket, and you will have made a friend for your stay!

A highlight for us.

Expecting real blue sky and clouds but the scene is not good enough even good weather.
Hardware is good but software is not.

I can not find shapoo and body gel at bathroom so I have to request them and no brushes and razor.

I can accept all if the price is half.
