This a unique hotel having been converted from a tea factory. Because of its location it is a long winding drive to get to it but it is worth the effort. It is perched on the top of a hill. The first impression in the reception area is that it is a strange building with lots of iron work on display. You either love it or hate it. The staff are good and efficient. We had to wait a few minutes for our room to be ready but it was worth the wait. We had room 208 which is on the end of the building and had big windows on three sides which gave fantatsic views. As it was on the end we did not have any of the problems with sound from rooms adjacent although the ceiling creaked a bit from the room above ours. The bathroom was well equipped, it even had a step stool for getting into the bath to use the shower. We had drinks on the outside terrace enjoying the fantastic views. We were told by other guests that the mist would arrive at 4:30pm and spoil the view but this did not happen so we sat looking at clouds in the disance below us. The buffet dinner and breakfast was adequate but not as extensive as we had found elsewhere. This is a hotel you should visit particularly if you can get a room with 3 views.

Room Tip: Roome on the end of the building have windows on 3 sides. We had room 208.

Disappointing...should have been 5 star luxury, ended up rather let down. The hotel itself is situated absolutely miles away from anywhere up such narrow roads you wouldn't dare ask your driver to take you to town for dinner. Fortunately the dinner is one of the best parts of the hotel. Wonderful buffet, fantastic service, great selection and live music made it a very pleasant evening, you can even pay more and sit in a train carriage for fine dining,

The hotel itself was a tea factory and its won loads of awards for its design. Personally I think it's garish, unwelcoming and weird. The rooms are absolutely NOT 5 star. Finishings are poor, the bathroom is really naff looking and we had no hair dryer and only one plug which was situated as far from the mirror as possible. We asked for an extension cable so that my sister could straighten her hair and they brought one up which was a safety hazard. The manager came and before long we had an ELECTRIC PLUG SOCKET installed in THE BATHROOM!!!!!!

After such an electrifying experience I'd recommend that you consider staying closer to nuara Elyia because it looked like an interesting place to look around.

Wifi is free and there is a safe in the rooms. I will say that some of our party liked the hotel design. When you arrive you are greeted with a free tea mocktail of tea, coca cola, ginger etc all put together in one cup...

This was our second trip to the hotel and as I have mentioned above, this place never fail to amaze us. Think we were lucky to get a sunny day given it is still January and surrounding looked beautiful during the whole day. They have really up their game on the aspect of food as we loved the variety of food as well as the quality of it this time compared to our last visit 8 months ago. They have also added few tiny things to your stay which would add warmth to their great hospitality. Kumar, the guy whom ride the phony remembered even the stuff we discussed during our last visits and we were pleasantly surprised that he remembers such things. As always Miyya spread his charms every time you see him.

Simply, you feel the greatness of the place and its people which ensure a repeat visit soon!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on extreme corners of the building which gives you two big windows that provide you with scenic views.

After a long winding drive up single track roads with hairpin pin bends we were finally greeted by the magnificent sight of the Tea Factory perched on the hillside. It is worth staying here just for the views ( if the mist and or rain doesn't spoil it!) and also because the decor is so different to anywhere else. It is after all an industrial building which is so very apparent in the public areas. It has been beautifully restored and is worth a visit for this very reason.
Staff were friendly and check in efficient.
We trundled up to the 3rd floor in a lovely old Victorian lift with sliding metal gates, so much a thing of the past it was like stepping back in time.
Fortunately the rooms are more modern than that. We only had a premium room which was rather small as was the bathroom and although it was ok it was pretty basic compared to all the other hotel rooms we stayed in this holiday.
There was a lovely old railway carriage for a fine dining experience which unfortunately we didn't get to try. The buffet was very average and unfortunately when we chose from the set menu although the food was beautifully presented it didn't quite live up to how it looked in taste and flavor
We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but decided only to stay for 2 in the end. Partly because the weather was so awful but also 2 nights in this area is really enough to do what needs to be done.

Room Tip: Probably go for the more expensive rooms.

This hotel is a very unique design which I absolutely loved. The interior is very warm and welcoming and it gives you a very homely and welcome feel when you walk in. I loved the unique design of this property as it is a old Tea Factory which has been converted into a hotel so it is very quirky and oozes loads of character. Our room was very comfortable and clean and we had a great nights sleep. The dinner was lovely probably one of the best we had during our trip to Sri Lanka and the breakfast was also very good with a large variety of choices. The grounds of the hotel are nice to wander around as there is a lovely little garden with views looking out to the cloudy mountains. There is also a decking area with outdoor tables and chairs where you can sit and admire the views over the tea fields. This hotel is set in a magical location and is a must visit, one of a kind!
