Villa Acacia is a new small guesthouse in Nuwara Eliya. Everybody is very fiendly and especially the owner Laki very helpful. The view over the lake is fantasic and the communal areas very nice.

The dinner next to the fire place was lovely (only downside was that there were issues with the chimney so the place was either quite 'smoky' or cold because the windows had to be open).

There were a few issues:
- Mould in our room because of water damage
- No wardrobe or anything similar to unpack you luaggage

Laki promised that these issues would be solved shortly.

Room Tip: Try to get a room upstairs. The driver accomodation is downstairs and they pass in front of your win...

This is a new villa that is quiet pleasant to stay at. The family that run it are fantastic. They really try to please. A few things need to be ironed out but give them a go. It is clean and they have a pool table and table tennis with the biggest tv I have ever seen in the games room. They are eager to please so if you need anything just ask.

We loved staying at Villa Acacia. The view from the living area is absolutely breathtaking with views over Lake Gregory and the surrounding farms. The team prepare great Sri Lankan food so it's well worth having lunch or dinner at the villa during your stay. The communal areas - sitting area, and games rooms are really nice places to relax in during the evenings, especially when they have a roaring fire going!
Definately make sure that you have the phone number for the property with you when you arrive as it's off the beaten track and can be difficult to find but is well worth it, it's a beautiful place.

We stayed for one night with another couple while travelling around Lanka for a week.

Absolutely marvelous place, breathtaking views of the lake, nice lawn in front, wooden flooring, TT and pool table, big screen TV. If ever I build a holiday home/villa for me in the hills, I would like to have something similar. Staff was very friendly. Manager Sam was kind enough to come get us from front of the lake, Initially there was some confusion of us getting two rooms on separate floors, but Sam sorted that out promptly.

The place can be a bit hard to find. So make sure you have Sam's or owner's number. Obviously all this luxury comes at a price which was steeper than the places we normally stay in. But it was fun to splurge on this occasion.

Room Tip: The front two rooms open out into the lawn and have great views. The room to the right however for s...

We stayed for 5 nights at Villa Acacia and could not ask for anything more. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and comfy. The bathrooms are very spacious too with hot water throughout the day. Above all, the views of Lake Gregory were simply breathtaking along side some very yummy food. Staff were very helpful...we just had the best time. Cant wait to go back ...

We stayed 2 nights at this new guesthouse - a three storey mansion on the hills behind Lake Gregory. Sam was a wonderful host and our stay was a wonderful break from the raft of average guesthouses. We lost a wallet nearby and Sam kindly took the time to ask the neighbours and recover it for us. Rooms are heated and the linen/bed is super comfy. It is only a short walk into town and perfect if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful time. Perfect for small families and couples.

Tip - It is a bit hard to find! Turn right when you reach the racecourse near Nuwara Eliya. Then go up the road at the beginning of the lake. Go up Bonavista Road and turn right at the very end when you reach a T-Junction. Then turn left at the house selling strawberries and it is on the left hand side near the end of the road.

We stayed for two nights at Villa Acacia, overall a fantastic place to stay, highly recommended overall - it was one of our highlights of our visit to Sri Lanka. The villa has 5 bedrooms but is spacious enough to not feel cramped.

Positives:
- phenomenal view over Lake Gregory
- Sam is a great host, very willing to help organise and assist you with your visit and onward travel
- the home cooked food is amazing, some of the best food we had during our visit to Sri Lanka
- the villa is new (open since October 2012)
- great communal area with stunning views but also enough private areas to read etc.
- billiard table and table tennis table

Negatives:
- need a tuk tuk or some mode of transport to get into town as you are perched on a nearby hill overlooking Lake Gregory. However, Sam can organize this for you easily. The trade off is you get amazing views!

We highly recommend getting a mountain bike and riding to Lovers Leap, via Lake Gregory and through a tea plantation!
