We were visitors in Nuwara Eliya at the worst time, wet and cool, although not freezing cold like the locals think! The hotel was more or less empty and the atmosphere was therefore very quiet. We ate there one night and had a very nice curry with all the trimmings,
The room was fine although as others have said, there is a damp problem. Nothing that extractor fans in the bathrooms wouldn't solve I expect. Overall a nice stay.

We didn't want to stay in one of those old colonial buildings and were looking for a nice, clean and quiet hotel. Our room turned out to be nice and clean as what other reviewers observed, and we had good sleep with the heater on and hot water bottle provided every night. Linens and towels were fresh. We were very surprised by the food. Mr Kumar would ask us what we would like for each meal and the food always turned up tasty and well presented. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Our driver enjoyed his stay too! We were there for 2 nights and would certainly recommend this place.

We have one night in the low season,we were the only one staying there.
The most expensive hotel we had in Srilanka,120 dollar per night is extremely expensive for this country, 4 times more than avarage. The room was quite new and well decorated with a nice view of the tea plantation, but it smells the humidity everywhere. They should do something again this fact. The employés were helpfull and very kind with us.The service is professional. If you go to this region do not forget to take warm clothes,as the temperature is around 5 in the monring and the evening.

The hotel may know their standard s but they give step motherly treatment to local customers. Even after telling them that we need a la carte for dinner, they served us rice and curry fit for lunch which they had decided on their own. Terrible. We starved the night. As for the foreigners who were there that night they had a candle light dinner. We will never visit this place again.

Great location- high up on the hillside that you'll soon come to see makes up most of nuwaraelya. We arrived at night and couldn't appreciate it but certainly the following morning the view from our widow onto the tea plantation was impressive.

Service was great, the staff were attentive to our needs and small touches made a difference- bringing us hot water bottles without being asked for example.
We didn't get much of an opportunity to sample their food unfortunately as we were only there for a night but I had no complaints. One suggestion might be to offer genuine Sri Lankan food for breakfast in addition to their 'Western Breakfast' as I felt the breakfast wasn't quite up to scratch but that was most likely due to the fact that bacon/sausage are almost unheard of in SL and it must have been imported at significant cost but the quality and style was questionable (ie frankfurters NOT sausages).

I found the rooms clean and tidy, our room certainly wasnt damp although I can imagine that it would be difficult to avoid given the local climate. One suggestion however- the rooms get very cold and as pretty as the fireplaces look, our one in particularly provides very little heat, that might be something they look into.

Overall a lovely stay and all the minor negatives were outweighed by the friendly staff and their diligent sevice.

We spent 2 nights in this nice hotel in july 2013 with our 3 children and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped. The staff was friendly and really taking care of us. The food (breakfast and dinner) was of good quality and well cooked.

Room Tip: We booked Deluxe rooms in the new side of the hotel.
