The nature surrounding the ambewela farm area is a very spectacular one, starting from the turn offat the ambewela railway station to the farm it’s very pleasing nature view to the eye.

The farm area is sometimes surrounded by mist and the weather can be very cold.

Even though this was my second visit, my family and I really enjoyed the visit, the cows, goats, rabbits and specially the milking of the cows at 12.00-12.30pm which was an good experience that you don’t see every day.
Farm has a shop available where you can by fresh milk, cheese, yoghurt …etc. ,
This is worth visiting

Especially educational for kids to appreciate the milk that they so much rave about (or hate so much). And for anything in the world don't miss out on the yoghurt you get there. It's creamy, smooth, well set and the best way to introduce it to your kids (if they do not have the habit already).

We traveled to Ambewela from Diyatalawa and the drive was really nice and the road was good. Closer to the farm the roads are narrow and winding so if your travelling with small kids , suggest you give them something to combat motion sickness. The area close to the farm is really beautiful with flowers and lots of green pastures . The farm itself is quite smelly but I suppose that goes with the territory .
It was really sad to see the cows and goats in sheds which were dark and dingy and the rabbits in cages where they could not move. The cheese factory was closed when we went and the restaurant's idea of milk shake was a scoop of ice cream in a glass of milk. Toilets were terrible. The only consolation was that the kids enjoyed feeding the goats !

Unless you have a permit, you will not be able to visit the farm. However you get fresh milk and milk products for you to purchase at the entrance.
