“In the middle of nowhere...”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

We stayed for only one night as part of our honeymoon tour. The room was not too bad, bathroom could do with a refurbishment. The building itself is colonial and has a lovely well-kept garden. We were unfortunately dumped here by our driver at lunch time and had nothing to do all day...there is nothing near by and Nuwara Eliya did not see to have much to offer either. The service is terrible, slow and inefficient. The dining room is cold, quiet and as were the only guests there, we couldn't relax in this atmosphere. Similar to the previous reviewer, we asked for Sri Lankan food only to be told the choice was the set menu grilled chicken or fish, then watched as the owner ate her curry in full view of us without even acknowledging us!!
The breakfast was even worse, somehow they managed to undercook the white of my boiled egg and overcook the yolk; again a shame as I would have preferred a Sri Lankan breakfast but was not given the option.
If you have to stay in or near Nuwara Eliya, stay somewhere else.

This hotel is a long way out of nuwara eliya and the manager takes NO interest in her guests. We were the only people staying here and she did not even bother to say hello. Also didn't appear to interact with her staff and instead choosing to constantly be on her mobile phone. The general staff we're friendly and chatty but the service generally was poor. We had our evening meal here and we were only given the option of western food (grilled chicken or pork chop) despite the manager eating Sri lankan curry behind us! We wanted vegetarian food and all we were given was a plate of cold boiled vegetables and some chips and boiled rice (all of which came out to us at different times). Our packed lunch for world end tour was just stale bread and butter and 2 bananas. The room was also of a poor standard and actually felt unsafe as an electrical plug socket sits directly above the shower! I would pay extra and stay somewhere else.

We had a wonderful stay in this B&B!
The staff is very friendly, they are always there to help you with everything. The food is delicious, breakfast - lunch and dinner! The room is very nice and very clean. And they arranged some beautiful towel-swans on our bed because we were on our honeymoon!
It is not that close to the center of Nuwara Eliya but you can easily get a tuktuk to take you there for no money.

Hotel located too far from city center, Room charges also very expensive, I stayed middle of April 2012 compare with other hotels (St Andrews and grand hotel) better to select star class hotels, service and food quality very poor

Room Tip: Before use check bathroom and bed sheets ,

The Avian Breeze is a delightful old colonial building with a tranquil set in picturesque hills about 4km from the town centre. I enjoyed the walk but it is easy to get a 3 wheel "tuk tuk" to take you to the bustling and interesting town.

The staff at the hotel are the friendliest and most efficient I have come across in my many years of travelling in Asia. The chef is very accommodating and produces some wonderful flavours. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and we were travelling with two young grandchildren who were well looked after.

If you are from a warm climate you might need to ask for extra heating, blankets etc.

This was a surprise find in town. Small hotel - but very clean and luxurious rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. I do not like the entrance garden area - looks like an armature piece of work.

I stay in Avian Breeze on 4 th of May 2012. That was our first stay in our honeymoon trip. My husband booked this hotel through d Internet n we hvnt been thr. Bt whn we reach thr, they treat us like family. D services from d top to bottom was "Awesome". D management was superb. They were very upset, because they didn't knw we r a honeymoon couple (tht was my husband's fault), coz they wana do alot for us bt we didn't hd time. Even d head chef of d hotel came to our door step to find out wht we love to hv for dinner n breakfast. "WOW". Wht a services. And we hd "rose room" d it was beautiful. So comfortable. So clean. There is nothing to complain. Nothing at all. For us itz completely a heaven. Our especial thnx goes to "Rocky" d manager. Who took care of family.
Thnx guys. We r gona b back to spend some time in thr again......
