We stayed for 3 nights in July and visited the tea plantations, Lake Gregory, World's End, the (slightly disputed and newly opened) tallest peak in Sri lanka and even saw some local rugby. The local climate is wet and cooler than much of Sri Lanka but the tea, fires and blankets certainly warmed us up a treat. We enjoyed good breakfasts, hot showers and very detailed directions to anywhere we wanted to go during our stay at Mountview Cottage.
